Danny was having the best season of his career, in what, 1985 or 86, when LT broke his arm. He was never the came after. As they ran out a string of 3rd rate QB's.
They looked to be one of the best teams in the NFL until hat point.
He just continually struggled with making mistakes in the playoffs. Fans here get on Romo and Dak for playoff errors, but White easily outdid any failures they've ever had. The only playoff year where you could say he wasn't at least part of the problem was 1981.

I think White gets more credit than he deserves because we still had a lot of good players on those early 1980s teams. We still had Landry as coach. We should have had playoff success with the teams that we had, and if we had had a better QB, we might have a few more titles on the wall.

I don't care what era it is, you can't throw five interceptions in the playoffs (to six TDs) and expect to win. You can't have as many ints. (or more) as TDs in the playoffs (like White did in every year but 1980 and 1981) and expect to win. And that's not even including his fumble against San Fran.

I wouldn't, but I'd love to see him on those teams and see what he could do. It's really all conjecture otherwise. Some may think Romo (or Dak) would have as much success or more than Aikman, but it's impossible to know for certain, which makes it therefore impossible IMO to pick either Romo or Dak over a three-time champ and Hall of Famer.

Sure thing.

So then W/L arent a QB stat? Explain that to the majority here who blame Dak and Romo for why this team has no playoff success then.

And yes you do.
I have tried explaining it to them many times.

And no I don't.

Cry harder.

Start Aikman
Bench Dak
Cut Romo....only 2 playoff wins throughout his whole career.....rarely showed up in big moments and never took over a playoff game. Maybe he could be Dak or Aikman's OC....
why start aikman over Dak?
Dak has two playoff wins in his whole career with nobody around him

Romo was more talented than Aikman? Yet he went undrafted and Aikman was a first overall pick.
Comparative draft position is another poor discussion point similar to quarterback win/loss arguments. Baker Mayfield was drafted number one overall. Tom Brady was drafted less than a half dozen picks before the seventh round. The latter was a first ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer before he made his fifth Super Bowl appearance. The former will be lucky to get into the Progessive Insurance Hall of Commercials. It is always completely about player talent and ability.

Not certain about the exact purpose of the thread, but my comments:

Obviously Aikman is the top talent. Arguably the most accuate QB in NFL history.

Having said that, Aikman required extreme structure from the scheme and other offensive players.
- He was not an Ad-Lib type QB.
- Aikman could never have dealt with the unpredictablity of Dez with regards to route running.
- Even CeeDee would have suffered the wrath of Aikman for his lack of perfection in route running.

Romo was at his best as an Ad-Lib QB.
- The polar opposite style from Aikman.
- Romo had more obstacles to overcome (Dez, OL struggles some years, coaching/playcalling/scheme limitations, etc.).

Aikman was a can't miss college prospect. he was consensus #1 pick. he won three superbowls. based on current outcomes, Aikman is the #1 choice. specially whe he played, when rules were different. by the same token, I would have loved to see AIkman today with all the pass happy, don't touch (or look at or breath on) the WR offenses. there is no denying Aikman's ability to read defenses and his ability to throw from the pocket. don't forget essentially all his career he had Irvin and bunch of other WRs and a bunch of TEs he made famous. yes, there was emmitt, but we have had good RBs here for a while to no avail
