Starting O-Line

Nate did say at the end he felt Farniok was playing well and Zack Martin of course. That was it. Sad. This Oline is in very bad shape.

I believe they need to keep rookie Tyler Smith at Left Guard. Like Michael Irvin said, that's the only position he has practiced all summer. It would be a huge mistake to move him to Tackle suddenly now without any chance to prepare for it.

Cowboys need to go after at least 1, maybe 2, veteran O-Tackles right now, but stubbornly, it looks like they are not. It's going to cost the team. 0-2 to start the season. Just wait and see.
yeah that is how I see it too. Just plug ball in at LT and give him help on the outside rush, let him cover the inside rush, and run blocking, he should
be as good as tyron.

But it is the jones boys, and they want their # 1 pick to move from guard to tackle lol

Cowboys could have had a top OL guy in 2016 draft, but they used the # 4 overall pick on a RB!! lol so funny and insane.
Then they used a #1 I think 10 overall on lamb , which I thought was dumb at the time, and you just dont go with rb or wr in top half of 1st round.
Those picks should be used for DL and OL, and only players your sure will be all pro types, like parsons turned out to be.

There has to be a decent guard out there or after cuts right? Man this OL is paper thin.

My man pots and pans...I think they need a T and an interior guy. T is more important. I was wrong about Ball. He sucks.

That’s the other issue here. If McGovern starts at LG and Smith moves to LT, your depth in case of other injuries to other OL takes a hit as well.
Exactly. The Smith injury and Ball suckness changed it all. They are VERY thin.

More than one. Even our 2 rookies are dinged up. This team was unprepared. On O-Line and WR.
You know I don’t see WR as a problem. I am in the minority I know. I see Gallup and Washington on the horizon and they have plenty of mouths to feed on O. The OL is a huge issue.

Mr. Calvin,
Do you feel the swing tackle position was handled correctly by the GM?
If you think yes could you explain your reasoning?
Many thanks sir.

I have to admit I haven't given it much thought. I don't think it's that cut and dry. Jerry makes decisions I agree with. He also has made some head scratchers. I have a wait and see approach. I will wait and see what the Cowboys do as an organization. That and hope for the best possible outcome. I won't start pissing and moaning before the first game is even played that's for damn sure. They have the resources to handle this, I trust they will. That's all I'm saying. I just don't see the benefit of expecting my team to always wet the bed. Where's the fun in that? This is supposed to be fun at least for me it is.

Anyone looking for a miracle solution needs to let the air out of their balloon and float back down to earth.

It sounds ugly, and it is! But I think any stopgap measure will be a disappointment too.

Oh, Believe it or not I enjoy watching the games.
I think I just care too much sometimes and upset and disappointed when we shoot ourselves in the foot.

Well the preseason is over and we saw them throw different looks out there. With Tyron out looks like Tyler takes that job.

Who do you have for the starting lineup. It seems like JJ is going to stay in house and not go after any starters. At least not till cuts.

I wonder if Ball gets cut. He looked ok later against second string. Alarcon maybe cut. We don’t have a lot of depth here. Tyler has a ankle problem.
No way Ball gets cut. We’re so thin at tackle cutting him would be beyond moronic.

How are we getting Walker Little? I thought Dallas would draft him although I thought he went a little higher in the draft than he should have.

Depth is almost nonexistent. They need to be aggressive and pick up another OL after final cuts. We’re looking at a leaky dam here folks and the water pressure is just building up.

They need a real center and I haven't seen enough of fairnok to know if he's the guy or if he's the same as biadasz.

Should have put Tyler at LT vs the scrubs late in game 3 to see if he can do it. Ultimately he's your LT of the future and his time table got moved up. They aren't signing a vet to a multi year deal since Smith will play tackle next year if not now. I think he starts now with McGovern as LG.

Ball is your swing tackle. Maybe he primarily backs up the left and waletzco backs up right?

Trading for him. He filled in a few games at LT last season and played well as a rookie. But Jags have a young LT already, so they’re moving him to RT. But Jags also have a young RT already so little is fighting for a starting job. Ideally, he’d be a starting LT already, but he got drafted by a team that already had a good pair of tackles. Since they just spent a 2nd on him, it would take at least a 2nd to get him. Maybe even a 1st since Jags have all the leverage. It still might be worth it.

No way

No way no how Ball gets cut . Now Alacorn yeah they need to expose him to waiver wire . Bye .

ok my Starting five man for Tampa

Zack Martin LT
Tyler Smith LG
Matt Farniok. C

depth Biadaz Avante Collins Ball Waletzco

Idk what games you been watching but Alarcon is the 5th best OL on this team and 2nd or 3rd best run blocker behind Zack & Tyler.

The ref had his # on speed dial the other night ….thought I was watching Connor Williams . Avante Collins makes the squad before Alacron

So you’re suggesting using those high picks and have them sit behind Tyron?
