Stats mean nothing!

Don't get me wrong stats is good, but what does stats mean when you don't win......

OK, easier Question for those whose Mocking me....... Who would you rather have Marino or Aikman.. Marino stats dwarfs Aikman in every category known for a QB. by stats standards Marino is miles ahead of Aikman, so who would you take to start a team the stat man Marino or Aikman........ Now tell me stats mean nothing, because if we go by stats Aikman never sees the field with Marino on the team...

Brady or Marino
even better Big ben or Romo.
Brees or Aikman. Don't forget we are going off stats.....

Marino. The guy was one of the most physically gifted passers ever to play the game.

Troy Aikman would take Marino, he was a more talented QB on a less talented team.

Did Jordon play a sport where he sat half the game?
yes, he played baseball and it's "Jordan"

It means your team was not good enough. As an individual Marino did every single thing in his power but it did not happen. John Elway failed many times but then Denver brings in Davis a RB who put up over 2,000 yard season and bingo Elway has a ring and frankly those rings for Elway were not his best year play wise. Rings are team accomplishments it is not about the individual.

Oops a spelling mistake, I'm quite sure you have never ever made one......

Who would you take Aikman or Marino than?

I do all the time but not with the name of the greatest basketball player of all time.

I'm bias I loved Aikman but do I think Marino could have came to Dallas with that team and won a championship I have no doubt because Marino was a great QB. If you put Aikman on that Miami team do I think Troy wins SB? No I don't

If we have Marino, Emmitt never sniffs the rushing record, because Marino had to throw the ball 30-40 times a game, leaving Emmitt with around 12-15 carries a game, also their would have been alot of 3 and 4 WR set, not 2 WR TE, FB and RB, Moose never would have been a household name....

That makes me think back to Jordan's Hall of Fame induction speech. At one point he said, paraphrasing, "I wouldn't have been able to accomplish what I did with the Bulls if it hadn't been for Scotty Pippen".

I remember the mid/late 80's when it was just Jordan in Chicago. How he put his team on his shoulders two straight years, got to the playoffs and faced the Celtics both seasons. He went off for 61 and 63 (or 61+ points) against Boston both seasons. It wasn't enough. Even though it was already apparent in his young career that he was going to be a legendary player, it just wasn't good enough. That changed when he had Scotty to lean on.

Players involved in team sports, who aren't full of themselves, understand where their overall success comes from. Some of their fans may not, but they certainly do.

The first person who compares Owens with either Jordan or Pippen can enjoy the satisfaction that, by doing so, I will have vomited a little in my mouth immediately after reading their post. That nonsense will probably happen, so I may as well prepare for it to come true.

Marino: Hey guys I have 400 career TD's and yards up the ying yang.

Rypien: I have a SB ring....

Marino: So I won rookie of the year and passed for 49 tds and one year....

Theismann: I have a SB ring.....

Marino: who cares I have great stats...

Mcmahon: But I have a SB ring....

Marino: I have stats

Players have stats are good, Barry Sanders has stats and I think he one of the best RBs ever, now if he wins a SB he probably would be considered the best ever......

If Jordan did everything he did but never won a ring he would not be considerd best ever by many.

Not minimizing the game of basketball but Jordan was 1/5 of the starting line up that is on the court 45/60 minutes. A QB is less than that and also isn't on the field to defend or play special teams.

Much more difficult to put the whole game in just your hands and take control of it for 3/4 of the game than basketball. Many different types of positions and formations to manage than basketball as well. Much more detail, complications and physicality in football.

Sure, if Don Shula is coming along with him to call the offensive plays.

Did Jimmy suddenly go to a spread offense when he had Marino in Miami?

Not necessarily he threw that much in Miami that does not mean had he been on a different team they would have thrown as much, especially if you had a RB like Smith to hand it to. Elway threw a ton in Denver all of a sudden they bring in a great RB and no longer was Elway expected to throw near as much

Marino is hands down better than Aikman. I love Aikman, but I would take Marino over him anyday.

Marino would have won the same amount of SuperBowls as Aikman did with the 90's team.

Aikman wouldn't have won squat with those Miami teams and wouldn't have put up the same numbers either. If Aikman were in Miami, he wouldn't be in the HOF.

Stats are measuring sticks for competancy. Nothing more.

Marino will tell you he would trade in every record he broke for one ring. Ask any SB winning QB if they would trade in their ring(s) for all QB records and they would all say no.

So while stats do mean something, they mean a lot less than most people think.

No doubt many players would trade their personal stats to win a championship. Stats as you said is a good measuring stick for the individual player to show their ability. Unless the NFL turns into the PGA this game still requires a quality team to win the championship.

Uh, I very obviously choose Marino over Aikman. Marino was a better QB, Aikman had a better team by far. We very possibly win 4 superbowls in a row with Marino at QB.

As for the others? They are all still playing and it's hard to argue current players against retired. Their entire careers need to be judged not someones entire career vs someones most recent amazing/****ty seasons.

When all these current QB's are retired though, I think Peyton Manning willing stand above the rest.

What is the definition of a "win when it counts"?

Dallas beat Indy late in 2006. Did that not count?

Dallas beat the Giants late in 2006 at NY. Did that not count?

Dallas beat Green Bay late in 2007 to essentially secure the #1 seed in the NFC. Did that not count?

Dallas beat the Giants late in 2007 at NY. Did that not count?

We beat the Giants last December, but that doesn't count, either.

Watching Romo this year brings back the nightmare days of Drew Bledsoe throwing picks when our team is in scoring position.

Because Romo did it one time?
