- meh .. it worked for another 4th rd QB ..and one of the shortest QBs to win a SB as well in Russell Wilson.

- Surround that 4th rounder with a stronger player personnel and coaches - and i'll take my chances there
Sure. We’ve only been trying to do that for 7 years. But by all means, let’s keep repeating the madness.

I think dak could win with an elite coach. thats why I'm an advocate of bringing in Sean Peyton. Its not just about coaching its about changing the culture of this team.

This statistic is significantly skewed because only 1st round drafted QB’s generally get a real shot. Also doesn’t make sense to take out Tom Brady. Just provide total SB wins and total different QB’s to win SB. I think Purdy for example will end up being a solid QB, vastly superior to Lance for example, but he never would have gotten a shot in a million years if SF hadn’t suffered multiple injuries at the position. Donkeys like Darnold get chance after chance while late round draft picks never get used at all or discarded after the first sign of struggle. I actually think the number of later round QB’s that succeed shows that the league still to this day have no clue how to evaluate the position.

I’m a numbers guys; I crunch numbers as a profession. So I calculated the average draft position of each Super Bowl QB, since 1990.

Not counting Tom Brady, of the Super Bowl QBs since 1990:

34 were drafted in the 1st round
&
The average draft position of a Super Bowl QB since 2000 is #27 overall.

I know we keep hoping that a 4th round QB can lead us to the Promised Land, but the numbers are not in our favor. Not by a long shot.

We need to rid ourselves of Dak and sell out to get a premium QB in the first round. We are stuck with the Jones’ at the top, so I believe landing (hopefully) a top-end QB high in the draft would be our only realistic path to potentially making another Super Bowl.

This honestly is not meant to be an anti-Dak post. I just don’t think he’s capable of being consistent enough to get the job done and I’m trying to dream up a way that the Cowboys could win again before I croak.
Wondwr how the Eagles and 49ers feel about this stat?

So here is the problem: This year the team drafts 26 and I am not overly impressed with the QB class. Fast forward to 24 and there are two likely franchise QBs in Williams and Maye. Probably go picks one and two. Will this team be bad enough to draft there? Highly unlikely. Are Jed and Jethro pro active enough to figure a way to up and draft that high? There is a better chance I play QB for this team in the next two years.

Here's one that isn't skewed - the last time Dallas won a SB it was with a QB drafted in the first round (1st overall).

During that time, how many QBs were drafted in the 1st round?

People keep bringing up Purdy and Hurts as a counterargument, but I think people are missing the overall point. Both of those players are in really good systems. It'd be curious to see what Dak would look like under Shanahan. Purdy might be riding his high right now, but I think he comes back down to Earth soon enough.

Details please.

Your suggestion that the Cowboys could trade Dak and his monster contract tells me you know absolutely nothing about "crunching numbers."'

A master of sleep number mattresses, perhaps?
