I've said it before on here. A Fogo restaurant is my favorite place on earth. That's not an exaggeration. That place is sublime.

Agreed... Fogo is a true religious experience...

From what I am seeing, it is all you can eat steak, all kinds of different cuts, cooked the way I want. How could it not be?

Hos, pork, lamb and chicken as well...

You get a little coaster that is green on one side and red on the other. Leave the green side up and the guacho's continually come by carve meat onto your plate. If you want a break or time to finish what you have, flip it over to red.

A couple of words of advice. The salad bar is pretty extensive. Back off and save room for the meat. Second, get the Papaya Cream for dessert. The papaya breaks down the beef and you won't be so bloated after consuming 10 pounds of delicious protein.

Your referring to Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood and/or Round Rock, just outside Austin.

Great Q, and a legendary TX BBQ joint, but probably not what the steak-burner's looking for for an upscale dinning place.

The brisket they showed had me about ready to go through the tv. lol

Great place right down the road from me. It's also byob so you can bring your own libations or, as in your case, Pepsi...

Just be careful traveling to and from. The original location is off of a winding two lane ranch road. There tend to be a few drunks and motorcyclists on the road. There also may be a few Lance Armstrong wannabes during the daylight hours.

lol i told my GF that your meal came to 185 a person now she wont put it on the list, she would feel horrible having her dad spend that much on dinner. were simple folk haha

Here's the dinner menu link. Dad's bill went through the roof based pretty much on the bottles of rotten grapes. He doesn't remember if there was a charge for the private room reservation but a fair amount of places do have such things that can run from $150-$500.

This isn't a true steakhouse either. It's a mixed menu, non-themed. My place is a mixed menu, Tuscan with nouveau European.

I want my money back on the lime drink in the rox glass. 2 limes, 1/2 shot of alcohol. Then again, if he wasn't given that shirt as a gift, he deserves to be short-poured.

Maybe that's just the Brazilian version of a finger-bowl?

i take it to mean that us having a conversation about fine dinning place we like and have been to, has come off as snobby and pretentious like a frasier episode but we aren't funny.

I just mentioned good places to eat. To me it wasn't about fine dining, it was about good food. Hofbrau is not fine dining, but I could sure go for one of their steaks.

Texas Land and Cattle's steak melts in your mouth, I'd have to say that's the best steak I've ever had. I've been to Ruth's Chris but it's just a fancy hoity toity place. It's a nice place to show off to the pops but Texas Land and Cattle is a little less showy. Take it from a girl's perspective. What does your girly say about it? Does she have an opinion about it or did she just tell you to pick?

Actually, Trulucks probably has the best steak in Austin. Its rather expensive though, so I haven't taken you there yet. :)

Trulucks is seafood and steaks, but their steaks are some of the best I've had. So that's where I send people for steaks, "girly". :)

See if you can get them to New Braunfels and hit up Myron's. Dad raves about it and he's pretty particular about steak houses.

TL&C hasn't ever really impressed me to be perfectly candid. It reminds me of one rung above Outback.

3 Forks is great. I've heard good things through the grapevine about Finn and Porter's but I cannot give a personal accounting of how good it really is.

http://chamagaucha.com/

That's a new Brazilian steak house we have here in town that comes from Chicago. My customers have raved about it. Haven't had the time to make it over to pay them a professional courtesy visit just yet.

Holy cow Salt...I live close to it.
Been there 3 times.
Carnivore's paradise.
My advice is to go when it's kindo of slow, like a monday night. You get personal attention and they take requests.Filet Mignon,Ribeyes,Top Loins...all you can eat.
The salad bar is awesome and the cuts are to die for.

And the rest wish they do what Rocky and Linda Piazza do.

Ask for the "off menu" selections.
