What? Can't see the trees for the forest.
What does that even mean? Are we having a serious conversation or are we playing games?
What? Can't see the trees for the forest.
Anyone can be racist.
He didn't say anything about racism.
Nice try tho.
He stated that JG only has his job because he is white.
Full Definition of racism
1: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2: racial prejudice or discrimination
A person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others
Let's just say the guy definately isn't colorblind.
What does that even mean? Are we having a serious conversation or are we playing games?
See my question above?
Neither are any of us.
After numerous replies you finally respond? It is you playing games. You're a smart man with access to the internet. If you want to know the meaning of something I'm sure you know how to look it up. Get back with me when YOU want a serious conversation.
Getting defensive, I see.
I asked the question because apparently many people don't know what racism or being a racist is. But to make sure I'm not assuming, I ask questions.
I'm not the one responding can't see the forest from the trees. But I'll take your advice: if you don't want to have a serious conversation, you can stop replying to my posts and I yours.
The issue of racism is not a game to me.
Well, I guess that statement from you explains a whole lot. I'm hearing you self identify yourself as a racist.
Well, I guess that statement from you explains a whole lot. I'm hearing you self identify yourself as a racist.
I'll say this one last thing and I'm done with you. No, I'm not colorblind because colorblind assumes that color doesn't matter, but it does.
Each of us, and all our beautiful colors, comes with a culture, an experience and a tradition that us unique to us. These qualities are often associated with our race.
And the beauty of life is enjoying other people's racial identity and understanding how it makes people unique.
When we attempt to act "colorblind" we are tacitly saying we shouldn't value other people's culture, experiences and traditions, yet we end up defaulting to the dominant culture, acting as if it is acultural when it's not.
I appreciate other people's cultures as much as my morality and faith allow.
So, no, I'm not colorblind, and neither is anyone else because we all are shaped from a cultural perspective, and we all reflect that perspective whether we admit it or not.
Now you can continue with your sophomoric interpretation of race, racists and racism.
This might be the dumbest thing ive read from you.
This might be the dumbest thing ive read from you.
Um....nah
So you're saying being a racist is unconnected to racism?
How so?
Uh, so how is saying Garrett would be fired if he were black advocating the "inherent superiority" of a particular race?
It's sad that people don't really understand what racism is or what constitutes a racist. They think it's some flippant term they can toss out willy nilly and ignore the broader, historical application of what racism is and what a racist actually does. And a man pointing to race as a factor of identification IS NOT an example of being a racist.
It's actually insulting when compared to the ACTUAL application of racism and what a racist does and has done through American and world history.
