Stephen A. Smith just went off on Jerry

I broke down and actually watched the video. For once, I thought Stephen A. remained somewhat composed and presented some compelling points.

I agree. I actually expected Ryan to be fired and I don't have a problem with it. Smith was right about this team being a joke. As Cowboy fans, we can quit kidding ourselves. This organization has some serious problems. The biggest is Jerry's ego. He has ruined any respectability that was left for this organization by the way he does things. No other owner or GM goes about things the way it is done in Dallas. There is a reason, it doesn't work.

I disagree....the offense couldn't run the ball consistently, they got way behind in games because they turned the ball over and got too many 3 and outs. I love my Cowboys but how can you NOT think the offense was pretty poor this year?

I just stated that the O-Line needed to be fixed. It wasn't doing it's job. thus poor running game & more pressure on Romo than he'd ever want.

I think this is how a lot of fans feel today. Of course we don't know what will happen to the offensive coaches but firing Ryan still seems like an odd way to fix the offense

Pretty sure they weren't looking to fix the offense when they let Ryan go.

Hopefully they have other plans for fixing the offensive issues.

It was (see my earlier post) but before the injuries they were holding us in games. The offensive was offensive! I'm no Ryan fan in fact I hated the idea of him coming here but Garret's offense was worse. That is the point. I would like to see both a good offense and a good defense. How many penalties have we had over the past few years? We are one of the worst and a good chunk of those were on the offense.

From the 8 minute point on, I think Smith has some good point on Jerry and his ego.

I also agree that Garrett wanted Horton and not Ryan in the first place, and Jerry forced the issue. That is, once again, undermining the Head Coach.

I agree completely on the first point. I actually think their talk fleshed out some good debate and wasn't bad at all. Same as here.

I read on DallasCowboys.com that RR was seen as disorganized.

If you observe that disorganization daily at Valley Ranch, in conversations, in meetings, on the practice field, .. you see it and then hope that it does not spill over into the games.

Some may have even discussed the disorganization amongst themselves when RR was not around, ... but again, you hope it does not impact game situations.

But then you begin to see the disorganization on the field, ... players running on and off of the field looking very scattered and out of sorts, not knowing where to line up at the snap.

And then at times you see 12 men on the field, 10 men on the field. Having to use timeouts to clear that up.

And then at times seeing that the 11 we had on the field were not the right 11 to have on the field and thus creating mismatches for us defensively.

As you notice those things on the field, you recall how you saw them and the disorganization off the field, .. in meetings, .. on the practice field, etc.

It seems like Tony has to put 24, 27 or 30 points on the board to win, and at times that is not enough.

Our 8-8 seasons are the best record that RR has ever had as a DC.

I like the guy, but let's hope we can do better. It really comes down to who we replace him with before we decide whether this was good or not.

You make some very good points. This all boils down to who will replace him and how much control he will have over the defense.

I love Smith he keeps it real, but if your going to talk about a particular subject at least do your homework. Rob Ryan convinced Jerry to sign scandrick to that extension, Jerry got him Brandon Carr, he moved up for Claiborne and the defense never cashed the check his big mouth wrote. I'm really tired of the injury excuse. Terrell Suggs missed the first 6 weeks of the season for the ravens, Ray Lewis missed over 10 weeks, and they lost Webb their starting CB against us. The ravens are still playing ball, because their coaching staff maximized whatever talent they had. The ravens had every excuse to pack it in, but mentally tough teams don't do that. When does his 5 minutes begin?

You might be right. Points well taken. But Jerry shotgun approach missed the target. Rob Ryan was not to blame.

Steven A questions about what is Jason Garretts roll with the team is a valid question.

Can you blame him for what he said? Jones is stupid for what he did. Ryan was one of the strengths of this team. If he had retained his starters, we would be a top 5 defensive team. Not his fault. Ryan should be defensive coordinator, Norv Turner should be offensive coordinator and JG, head coach. Done.

They were like top 10 through 10 weeks weren't they? And with a lack of turnovers and maybe 5-6 scores being attributable to the offense and special teams.

The defense was much better when they were healthy. Even at it's worst, the defense was on par with the offense.

I learned to tune him about about 5 or 6 years ago.

Offense is scoring the points. Defense isn't. There's a lot of fixing that needs to be done. O-Line needs to be fixed, the Defense as a whole needs to be fixed.

I think this is a little off. Offense was scoring points in the 4th quarter after being way behind...they set a record. They couldn't generate points the first 3 quarters when the D was on the field all game trying to keep them in it. I think the stats are skewed.
