Bowen is to good to let walk, and young. I say keep him in Dallas.4 year 20 million. With 12 up front.

1 sack in 8 games and he deserves all that?

I think Spears and Bowen are both good in their own rights but neither are effective full-game 3-down players. They benefit alot from playing in a rotation with Spears' limited pass rush skills and Bowen's limited girth to handle the run all-game long as a 3-4 DE.

I'd like to keep both at a reasonable price as both are valuable players even if neither is Pro Bowl worthy.

I think a Rat like deal should be offered to Spears. Maybe something like 4 years $8M for Bowen.

From my own opinion, I believe him and Spears will be here for a while because of their production. Spears is a beast and he draws alot of double teams and is a great run stopper.

If there isn't a new cba signed by next season he will be restricted along with Austin, Hurd, Spears, Hatcher etc.

Actually Austin & Hurd will be UFA next year. they are both playing under the 1.545 million 1st round tender. You can't be a RFA after you have played under 2 cotracts in the NFL or have 4 years of service under the old cba; or 6 years of service under the march 10th, 2010 cba.

Miles Austin, cory proctor, Sam Hurd,& Stepheb Bowen All have less than six years of service ...but they have all played 2 contracts in the NFL. unfortunaely they are UFA in 2010. However, spears and Hatcher are still playing under their original rookie contracts. Therefore they are eligible fot the 1 year tender under the RFA rules. If a team wants to sign them, they would owe Dallas a 1RD pick or a second round pick depending on what level they were tendered.

Bowen will likely be the odd man out. On the DL Olshansky, Ratliff Are Under Contract for 2010, Spears & Hatcher are under team control for the 2010 season b/c of the new cba both are RFA. Siavii, and Bowen and UFA. Bowen is the only DL that would cost us new Guaranteed money. everybody else is spoken for in some shape or form for 2010. Siavii will certainly not be guarnteed anything. I'm sure we will bring in some competion for him.

Bowen will get a 3-4 year deal somewhere prolly 3-4 million per year. 5-6 Million G jack up front. He will have an "operatunity" for an increased roll, that may not be available here. Dallas can easily match that, but he would prolly rather go to a team trying to Build a 3-4 front and is looking for Solid experienced Vets, & cheap vets where he could potentially be featured, KC Chiefs make sence, cleveland Browns make sence.

Ratliff at RB for goal-line situations. :)

I have no problems admitting I was wrong.

Well, you have a lot of practice...

For those of us who are seldom (if ever) wrong, it's a little harder...

:D

Hey, I just checked out the UTEP Miners' basketball roster, would you believe they have FIVE players from the Memphis area?? Naturally, I thought of you when I read that...

You're kidding right? Why don't we let him kick field goals

Buehler would kill him, of course...

OTOH, Rat could easily learn to deep snap and hold on PAT and FG attempts...

At the same time... he's that damn good...

That will change starting this year. Coach Pastner has already signed the top player from Memphis. He's ranked in the top 15 in the nation.

What he should be doing is recruiting from that well-known basketball hotbed, El Paso...

:D

Looking over the Miners' roster, they're gonna have some size this year... that's different...

We'll be the opposite. There will be a lot of paybacks handed out this year. :laugh2:

Hey, I don't know if the Miners will be good or not (though the chatter on their Yahoo page seems to be rather optimistic), I just know that they'll be bigger, and should be more physical, than they have been in quite a while...

If we make it to either tournament this year will be a success. Our tallest player is only 6-9 if that. But I have faith in Pastner. I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about him.
