Stephen Jones comments on Dak's Contract

My hope is that they are trying to slide in and get Dak on a discount.

And ugh at talking extension with Elliott now.

Where he was draft is meaningless Stephen.

Unless you are trying to use that to depress the value of his extension.

Sounds like he’s doing the opposite and suggesting that since he’s had to start since day one, due to his draft slot he’s been woefully underpaid.

Not being sarcastic, but what is the advantage of announcing your intentions, why not just negotiate with your player quietly? He said this about Dak and Zeke so far... Curious.

Is it really that big of a deal? Its inevitable. You think a team would've tried to trade for Bell of the Steelers didnt announce they werent going to offer him anything?

Don’t understand that correlation. Just saying it doesn’t seem wise to go to a negotiation having told the agents you’re at their mercy.

I don't know but if they really are going after a FA, it hinders them, because it just shows how much money we actually have.

They are. The position is only going going up. If we wait and he plays very well this year then his agent will be asking 30+ per year.

Have been saying all along.
Dak is going to get paid.

Right or wrong, my choice would be to use the 4th year as the final evaluation year--like is done with 1st round QBs.
But it looks like he'll get his a year earlier.
