It would hurt the team more.

Elliott is a middling back at this point in his career. He's worn down. He's not even in the same stratosphere as he was 4 years ago.

He has a massive cap hit and base salary for a TB. A restructure would hurt the team because you'd be kicking even more dead money into future years when he's going to be even worse than he is now. You are limiting your options in future years by restructuring him.

A pay cut? As I said, even if you cut his pay to league minimum, due to signing bonuses and a previous restructure, his cap hit would still be around 7-8 million, which is ridiculous for a backup TB on the decline. And plus, why would Zeke take a pay cut to that low a base? He's gonna want at least a few million. So even if he agreed to cut his base from $11 million to $3 million, the team is still eating up $9 million in cap space for a TB that isn't even in the Top 20 at this point in his career anymore.

How you guys can't see that's bad business, I have no idea.
Sydia....either way you gonna be upset by the next fall guy.....Dak? So no problem. Cowboys seeking minimum wage players per fan request. Can't wait for Micah to come off the rookie contract.....and we'll see how the board goes bersek. Anyway, all good.

Well, now I know whatever they are saying today at the Senior Bowl is just hot garbage…. They are basically defending their current situation. If Moore left, “well McCarthy wanted it.”

But San Diego called and asked a week before to speak with him…

Those two honestly have to be fn with us for the lolz. No way they can be this out of touch with reality.

Zeke probably sells tons of merchandise still. All they care about
Dallas players always sell merchandise.. when Romo was here and Dez as well, they both were top 5.. you can plug and play with any player..

Was this even in English?

What fans want is the Cowboys not admitting a mistake until too late. Now is the time to just dump Elliott. Take the cap savings and move on. He's not close to being as good as he was a few years ago. As others pointed out in this thread, he's getting nicked up a lot in the last two years and it's just furthered his decline.

Why would anyone celebrate using a large cap hit for a middling TB? Comparing Elliott's situation to Parsons just is ignorant at this point. But I get it. You guys have your favorites and you just can't let go even when the smart move is to just move on.

Yes, this was English. Now let's take the next step called Comprehension.

I know Jerry is going to make a business decision. And that doesn't bode well for Zeke's pay. There is definitely something going to happen to his salary. So relax. We know about his play, and the decline or the decline in the offense. Have no problem with that either. We've seen players decline on this team.....i.e. a JWitt for example (but you know the fanbase comes out the woodwork to tell us what he use to do.). We've seen players moved off this team.....T.O, Dez and Amari.....for "decline" play and/or pay. So relax. We know you don't like Zeke even if he contributed to Boy Scouts of America. I do like Zeke in a "role" on this team, after Jerry and Zeke conclude a change in pay (restructure, discount or release). Zeke will not be the first player on Jerry's team to have this plight.

And since we got the language down.......Word of the day: Comprehension.

Honestly, we reached Dumb and Dumber.
We understand you know you've failed on both your biggest contracts and players.
But who's believing you? Maybe Gilligan if he just returned from the island?

It’s not going to happen, but as long as 90,000+ fans continue to fill the stadium every home game every season no matter what product is put on the field. nothing will change.

Just wondering.......did anyone forget Zeke got injured and missed a couple of games......fought off a hit that typically yields torn ligaments. Just wondering if that was forgotten?

I know Zeke wouldn't get praise even if he saved hostages in a kidnapping situation......but we do know Zeke is willing to restructure pay, perhaps pay cut. Just wondering if some forgot he played injured this year, again? Unbridled leadership from someone giving up reps, embracing TPollard and his role, and rumored to be one of the team leaders. We know the franchise has the leverage but don't dare Zeke to be disrespected by the franchise.....given TPollard coming off injury now. Skip Peete being gone may have impact.
