There is absolutely nothing in this post that Stephen Jones hasn't said before... None whatsoever.

Smith wasn't even really a BPA versus need issue, because the guy was already a monster. He was a BPA.

This has been our alleged philosophy this whole time, especially with Garrett. He actually said it multiple times. It's why Garrett was confused when they left Floyd and got Frederick.

Right, but when Jerry decides he wants to do something different at the last minute, he gets his way. That is why he needs coaches who won't stand up for themselves and their decisions etc. The correct pick there was Floyd but it looks like Travis may turn out to be the better pick. It was clearly a case of dumb luck though.

I don't think it was the correct pick at all.

Remember, in this case it was the defensive coaches that didn't want him. How was he ranked so high when neither Kiffen nor Monte wanted him for a 4-3? Floyd hasn't done anything in reality either way. Why did the scouts and Garrett and Tom rank him that high, when they had gone 4-3 and he was a 3-4?

Jimmie Ward has the most potential as a free safety prospect based on what I've watched. He has good speed and range, good closing speed, and has displayed an ability to cover WRs in the slot one on one.

I like Ward.

I think if the Cowboys take him in the first round then that's a big high.

I would not object to a WR or CB or S in the first round if we can't trade down....just get a guy who can play.

You mean the secondary can't cause sacks by making the QB hold on to the ball?

That too, but guess? I never stated one nor the other. I was not the one trying to downplay the pressure the defensive front of Seattle had on QBs, simply by the number of sacks. Logic is flawed.

Is that what you were trying to do?

Golly gee.

I found Jones' non-denial denial about Manziel interesting.

You're looking for something that isn't there.

I honestly have no clue if they have any plans to try and get Manziel.. but what I do know is the Joneses are absolutely in love with JF. If the right opportunity presents itself.... like a team in the top 8 calling them and making a great offer, I would not put it past Jerry to bite. I would guess the current plan right now though is to go dline with a player like Donald (Who won't be there) or Barr, etc. If those guys are not there, they will look at the safety spot.. Dix/Pryor or trade down. That is just my gut instinct right now.

I don't think Dix/Pryor are in play. I think if they were, then they would have been brought in. Folks will say Claiborne and Ware weren't, but they were considered top 10 picks. Dix/Pryor are not top 10 picks, so I think the Cowboys would have at least brought one of them in.

I'm not fully following you. We are drafting at #16 in the draft, so we are not necessarily looking for a top 10 pick. I agree for some odd reason the Cowboys are not high on on a top of the line safety like Dix or Pryor, so you could be right, they either get one of their dline guys they think will possibly be there at 16 or they trade back.
