Stephen Jones: One of our goals is to draft a QB

Why would he announce the team’s draft strategy to the world? He’s such a freaking idiot
I'm not sure this one was much of a secret though....They only have 1 QB under contract, and he is coming off a pretty serious hamstring injury. They'd be fools to not look at a young/cheap option to have on the depth chart even if its the #3 guy.

Early on that was absolutely the case, but its almost a decade later now. Since 2020 he only has 1 year where he didn't miss any time. I'm not sure how he can't be considered injury prone at this point, especially getting into his 30s where many QBs start the retirement talk.
Early on is usually always the case with every professional athlete. The same was true for Prescott's predecessor.

Football is one of the most physically demanding sports on Earth. Injuries happen, sometimes less for some players than others.

No one should ever claim or imply any player, much less Prescott, is injury-proof. Time has almost always proven such claims as false before they are every uttered.

Sure sounds like they don't expect Rush or Trey to return........they may surprise us and draft a day-2 QB to send a message to Dak
Send a message to Dak? They just re-signed him to the richest contract in NFL history. It’s not like he’s going to be benched.

Should have been did this, BUT THE KEY NOTE IS, he can't be drafted in the 7 rounds of the draft, has to be a feel good story of a UDFA, and the player can't be good enough to cause a QB controversy, we don't like that here in Dallas!
This!

This is a weak QB draft class.......very weak. I'd much rather see them sign maybe Justin Fields or Zack Wilson and wait 2026 to draft one. Wilson's value is cheap ..........$3.3M. Who knows we may get lucky with him or Fields

The Joneses are football guys.... As much as what you're saying makes total sense, it will never happen because it makes too much sense... They don't want to give Dak any type of competition to prove that they're wrong....

I think there’s something to that, but for the most part, Jerry is big on “loyalty.”

I believe he feels as if he says “hey you’re our guy, no question,” it’ll inspire performance.

And also the guy that thinks that paying a guy more money will make the player, and consequently the team….better.

He also claims that people perform much better with “their back to the wall.”

It’s an all over the place philosophy, and probably all too often he tries to apply things that may work well in the business world toward building and NFL team.
