“I think our offensive line is better than it was last year and I think we ran the ball pretty well last year,” Jones said. “I think we’ll run it better this year and I think there will be a bigger commitment to running it.”

Committed-running teams have documented success and Jones even has statistical ranking goal in mind.

“I think we’ve been pretty successful when DeMarco has gotten over 20 carries. Our winning percentage is pretty good. So yes, I’d like to see us in the top 10 in terms of our rushing attack. I think that’s a good recipe in terms of us winning. We will be running the ball more.”

We have heard this after games, after seasons, before seasons...here it is again. They have acknowledged it time and time again that they need to run more.

We will see.

Glad he is throwing his vast NFL expertise behind the idea.

Yeah but it is not just him. So has the HC and the Owner and the players and so on over the last few years.

Let's see if it finally changes.

The fact of the matter is that he was raised and grew up in an actual NFL environment, not YouTube or high school or Monday Night Countdown or any other media driven propagandist forum. He, actually, has more NFL experience than just about anybody on this, or any other, forum. FWIW, I think he probably does know more than us.

This is music to my ears and something I've been hoping to hear for years. More positive news coming out of Cowboys HQ. You have to be physical to run the ball well. When you out physical your opponent, you usually win football games.

Does that mean we're going continue to run on seemingly almost every 1st down?

If we can stay healthy I think it will be crucial that we run the ball effectively and often to control the clock and keep our suspect D on the bench as much as possible. A ball control, grinding running game can be your defenses best friend.

I agree with everyone here - we have heard it before now let's hope it comes to fruition.

I heard the same thing last year as well as having secret sauce. I hope they finally do something about it.

lol whatever. I'd bet we're near the bottom of league in attempts again.

As long as Romo has the option to check out of runs on every play then he will always have more confidence in his ability then he does in the running game.

Honestly, I have to believe they learned a lesson last year. In the 60's-90's we were the team who always pulled it out at the end, I want to make a return to those endings, a stout running game will get it done.
