Stephen: Nobody has called interested in trading for Pickens

Not a surprise. Draft Day is still a week away.

And possibly a better chance of him getting traded post draft than pre-draft.

Bottom line - he isn't getting traded and other teams know it.
Exactly, Big Dog. I mean we traded for him after the draft, and teams do that so they can spend all year trying to get their draft stock back up.

There are many examples of non exclusive tagged players being traded. Typically the acquiring team just works out the parameters of a deal and negotiates with the trading team on compensation. Once the trade is made, the player quickly signs the new contract. Offer sheets don’t happen much anymore because teams aren’t willing to give up 2 firsts as compensation.
Perhaps they’ve discussed contract with his agent and he’s asking for more money than they want to pay.

Omg yes, I know how offer sheets work. The trade price is set at two firsts.

What I am saying is that Dallas is insulated against any trade offers of less than two firsts. There's no realistic scenario in which Pickens verbally agrees to a $40m AAV deal and then Dallas trades him for a second-round pick lol.
I wonder how you know that Dallas won’t take less than a two firsts? However, teams would need to contract Pickens first to see how much he wants, before contacting the boys.

Do you have your phone switched on stephen?

You know howto ? Or is the RTFM TLDR for you?

Honestly you cant make that up. You think there is no way it can get any dumber then these two idiots prove me wrong with ease. Just smh.

Same 1st thought...I read the title and thought...ohhh, click bait from an article, what does the actual quote say? Open it, see the quote, and just SMH. Why say it like THAT, Stephen? These guys...

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Dallas has put out the word that they won’t take less than two firsts.

They never intended to extend him
They never intended to trade him
They just want him to play on the tag

It’s the same reason they won’t talk to his agent. They knew before the season ended exactly what they were going to do and now they’re doing it.

It was obvious to many of us.
I suspect this as well. But we can never be sure

I don’t know why people are getting so excited about Pickens and the tag. Both sides are exercising the leverage that they have.

Pickens will either get traded or he won’t. We have no control over it. Neither do the Cowboys to some extent. Stop worrying about things we have no control over.

Dallas has very little incentive to pay him more than the tag amount. Moreover the Cowboys seem very comfortable paying him to play on the tag.

Dallas is full of crap and so is Stephen. Remember, never show your best cards too early in a poker game. Not that Stevie is a decent poker player by any stretch, but knowing the draft is inching closer, you can bet he's gotten inquiries... Maybe even a couple offers. Even if those offers were low ballers, still he has cards in his hand. So there's no reason to tell Pickens or the world that anyone has called. This might be wise actually. Keep your powder dry til its go time. My hunch is they might have a couple trades already sitting in the draft hopper ready to be pulled, pending any better offers as we inch closer to the draft.

This. EXACTLY. There's no need for a rush by either party.

Only in Dallas do you get an official statement like this from the dopey Vice President or whatever he is. And no, I don't believe anything this moron says
Thought the same thing, why even share that?

Unless they are trying to sign him long term and use this as leverage against his agent indicating that he doesn't have as big of market as he thinks he does.

Has he signed the franchise tag?

Has he signed the franchise tag?
No and he most certainly won’t until he has to.

If he signs the tag he has basically called it quits on free agency and has to attend OTAs and just play out the season and huff both copium and hopium, dreaming that he might have a chance to be finally be a free next year.
