It seems he's implying Tyler will backup Tyron AND play LG. So I'm guessing if/when Tyron misses his annual multiple games, they'll kick Tyler outside.

“Position flex” is a Garrett holdover philosophy and it is vastly overrated. Vastly. Other than making it easier to decide on your active 46 and 53 man roster on paper— what has it actually yielded in terms of on field production?
And it definitely gives rookies too much to process early on. Parsons is the exception— not the rule— but I fear his success last year at mastering multiple positions will only embolden this FO to deploy a flawed strategy
So this guy fills two holes. What's not to like? He replaces Connor Williams and is the backup to Tyron Smith.
With a healthy Tyron.....
Smith - Smith - Farniok - Martin - Steele
With an injured Tyron.....
Smith - Farniok - Badiasz - Martin - Steele
Sorry but I don't want McGovern on the field at all.

I realize the blocking assignments and the physical talents can be different from guard to OT. But the proposed position flex isn’t from one side to the other, or to defensive tackle.
I would expect that the biggest challenge would be does the player have the physical traits to succeed at both. If he does, how hard can it actually be, mentally only, to go from guard to OT on the same side?
Can anyone shed some light on this question? I don’t see vast mental gymnastics moving from guard to OT on the same side. The kid also had a 30 wonderlick score. So he seems to have intelligence.

Dude. Have you been paying attention. Jerry has been in love with position flex for years. Most teams are. Only time that was stifled was under Parcells
I don’t think you can say Biadasz is not the favorite to be center but I’m high on FarniokFarniok? LOL
You guys are hilarious. How about we let the kid do something before we anoint him. How do you think Farniok would have looked last year in his first year starting against the Bucs DT's or Cox?
Hey you, how is the kid going to do something, as you say, if he never touches the field? We have plenty of gameday footage on both Badiasz and McGovern. Neither one has been very impressive, IMO. So, if we want to put our best five out there, then we need to find out who our best five are. Am I right?Farniok? LOL
