I think in this scenario, Stephen has branded fortune as "the worm" and assigned it a gender - he. If he thinks Dak is actually "the worm" he's basically saying Dak's gonna get his playoff **** straight, and win us a championship. Either way, it ain't happening.

I can appreciate his confusion as I for one find myself pronoun challenged in the current times.

at the end of the day, even if they've given it actual consideration, they're in a position where it makes almost zero sense to let him walk. no compensation, no replacement, jerry is very old, the other young building blocks they'd still have to shell out for would be on a team without a qb. just none of it adds up at all.
