The injury excuse card is gonna be played hard this offseason to explain away the horror of 2024.

This will be immediately followed by the “we are finally healthy so we will be competitive again!” card which will be played in tandem with the “we like our guys” and “we are up against the cap so can’t add FAs” cards.

Finally, JJ will drop the ultimate “we are hanging around the rim so we are gonna run it back” card and it will be an offseason to remember.

Cowboys!
Yep your right - it was the injuries and we are "All In" again. I hate the Jones's.
Love the Cowboys - hate the owner's.

I do not disagree with him on that point. I think any team that loses as many quality starters as Dallas and SF will suffer on game day. But I would also argue that this is only part of the problem in Dallas. As many players as we lost to injury, we lost to free agency, and they were not replaced with equal caliber players. If injured players hurt the team, then so do players lost to free agency. Stephen and Jerry did nothing to retain or replace teh talent they lost. And, they did nothing to fix the two biggest problems that had last year.

Sure, maybe without all the injuries the Cowboys win a couple of more games, but they were never making the playoffs after the off-season they had.

The only problem with blaming the injuries is the Cowboys were actually worse this year when healthy than when injured.

Without the cap, Jethro Bodine looks a lot like Jeff Dunham’s Walter—right down to the scowl and wooden head.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones when asked on @1053thefan about how the Eagles roster is constructed vs. how the Cowboys are constructed with all of their salary cap issues:

“I’ll say it again, it’s the world’s smallest violin, but unfortunately we have over 50 percent of our cap on (injured reserve). Those things, when they hit and hit at the wrong time, it makes for a challenge for a team. Obviously, San Francisco is another team that’s had their share of injuries this year in terms of a big percentage of their cap sitting on IR. Those are things that come with the territory."

"I know everybody has their different battles with the cap that hit at different times. Philly will have theirs coming up where they’ll have to make tough decisions. But, yeah, we’re constantly looking at ways to look at our salary cap to give us the best opportunity with players like Dak (Prescott), CeeDee (Lamb) and Micah (Parsons), and you throw (Trevon) Diggs in there, to let those guys hopefully, No. 1, stay on the field, but No. 2, give us the best opportunity to make a great run.”

LOL.

What a bumbling rant of stupidity right here. We are so screwed.

These idiots have been saying Philly will have to pay the beast at some point for years. Its simple, Stephen. Roseman is smarter than you and your Dad when it comes to this stuff.

For this awful Front Office, the offseason starts just before the draft, ends the day after the draft and then picks up again in mid August. For Philly it’s 365/24/7. There’s a reason this idiotic family goes on a European yacht vacation the first week of free agency. They always claim some bs hardship. It’s been proven to be pure bs by many on this forum. It’s depressing.

Team looked pretty average before most of the injuries hit.
Sitting out free agency was an issue.

He gets it. He does not want to go up and down. He wants to hang out at the rim. He is happy with being a wild card team. He is happy going 1 and done and then acting surprised.
That’s pretty much it.

Philly understands that they are going to have to pay the piper at some point, but are taking several legit shots now.

Isn’t Dallas sort of claiming a reset year now (without really admitting it) yet never took those real shots??

Don’t blame injuries. Last years team other than Diggs was as healthy as could be. Unbelievable.

They are even happy just being in the playoff hunt until week 15.
