Stephen on how Eagles constructed their roster vs how Cowboys have

Jerry and Stephen look like fools every time they open their mouths.
Denver ate major cap but they showed that you can move on from horrible contracts.

I think Jerry just needs to feel he's getting his money's worth. Once you're paid he's going to play you regardless of results. Just like how he hates dead money on coaching contracts. He's become extremely committed to getting whatever he can out of these contracts well before accepting defeat.

Just remember, the Eagles if they make the SB this year, would have made three in the last 8 years. Every time they make one, fans here (and probably our idiotic owners too) say, "oh boy, they sold out for their run and now they are going to pay the price!!!!"

And magically, they somehow quickly clean up their cap and retool.

Jerry and Stephen should never put the word Eagles in their mouths. It just makes them look foolish. Roseman is running circles around these clowns.
I think I'm supposed to drop to some childish, juvenile level of immaturity and personally insult you for pointing out facts of a team that is managed well and just so happens to be a division rival.
The thing is I try not to insult people usually anyway and certainly not when I agree with every word that they've said.

Spot on bro.

What a horrible answer.
I was honestly expecting something more along the lines of this:

He also thinks that the higher paid you are the better you ought to, and will…perform.

This is the same guy that figured he could turn DeMarcus Lawrence into Charles Haley by giving him 100 million dollars, and didn’t have to draft OL high because his OL coach was the league’s highest paid.

I can’t recall who, but there was a time when he was asked why he thought a player could perform at a certain level, and the answer was…”because I pay him to be.”

Thinks he can talk things into existence. When you add it all up, the failure shouldn’t really be a surprise.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones when asked on @1053thefan about how the Eagles roster is constructed vs. how the Cowboys are constructed with all of their salary cap issues:

“I’ll say it again, it’s the world’s smallest violin, but unfortunately we have over 50 percent of our cap on (injured reserve). Those things, when they hit and hit at the wrong time, it makes for a challenge for a team. Obviously, San Francisco is another team that’s had their share of injuries this year in terms of a big percentage of their cap sitting on IR. Those are things that come with the territory."

"I know everybody has their different battles with the cap that hit at different times. Philly will have theirs coming up where they’ll have to make tough decisions. But, yeah, we’re constantly looking at ways to look at our salary cap to give us the best opportunity with players like Dak (Prescott), CeeDee (Lamb) and Micah (Parsons), and you throw (Trevon) Diggs in there, to let those guys hopefully, No. 1, stay on the field, but No. 2, give us the best opportunity to make a great run.”

Hes talking about the Eagles QB.

his contract is very team friendly right now.

Never. I can't jump ship and somehow feel any emotions or loyalty towards another team.

I'll simply tune out and stop watching/caring. I'd root for someone else if I had it in me, but I just don't.
Allow me to explain . . . there was a time when I felt loyal to this team and its leadership. It was like being married to them, without ever taking that binding oath of loyalty. Tom Landry and Tex Schramm were the polar opposites of this setup, since its leadership was so dedicated to its fans.

The current setup with this organization doesn't see fit to display any sense of loyalty to their fans but rather, are dedicated to the Almighty Dollar and their precious brand. They simply don't see fit to allow their fans a loyalty to them, since they aren't loyal to their fans. That's what I'm seeing in this marriage that appears, by all that I can see, is just a one-sided affair. Yet, I'm inclined to hang on, hoping that it, somehow, might change.

Anyway, I'm fairly confident that there are many here who share in seeing that same scenario.

Believe me brother, I get it. This is a toxic relationship to it's core. Jerry was openly trolling us during the draft, by continuing to mention "all in." He doesn't care about the fans one bit. He cares about the bottom line. I used to think differently but he's it's been made very clear as of late in particular.

I'd follow another team if I could. No one else can evoke that level of love or excitement from me. Every other team would be a poor substitute for my history with the Cowboys. It's a damn shame.

Close enough. I wouldn’t call it loyalty in my case though, more like hoping for the blind squirrel thing.

Took until recently to realize that’s not gonna happen.

True, but there's a nice core in place right now that needs to be supplemented with good players that cost money. Would a bit of impulse spending be such a bad thing short term?
You wouldn't think billionaires would be quite so financially insecure, but somehow Stephen still manages to be that way. Jerry was once willing to spend the money to get the talent to secure championships. Apparently, that feeling has left the building -- at least, with Stephen in charge of $$$.

I'd love to be wrong and have old Jerry suprise us. The crow would be delicious if he actually did something this off season.
Would be the ultimate scenario, even approaching a spiritual level if Jerry could ever make the right choice.

Actually, Jerry publicly stated: "You don't need a good OL if you have a mobile QB."

Yes, he really did say that.
