The fact are ownership believe he’s one of the best is a core issue for us. And keep expecting him to carry us.

He just isn’t the best or one of the best in the league. Dont know many fans who would argue that.

But it certainly explains why we are paying him, the type of team we have built around him and the continued lack of success.

He’s a top 15 QB, but his body is failing him rapidly and he’s a shell of his former self.

To be regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the league as in elite then surely by year 10 said quarterback will have either been league MVP or played in a Superbowl. Dak has achieved neither. He is not in the elite club of Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Jackson or Hurts.

Dak was so freaking lucky! He was about to have the worst season of his career when he jumped ship.

I feel the same...Dak has some talent, if healthy. He take a lot of heat, comes with the job and contract, but every players and coach, is reliant on others to step up and do there jobs as well. I remember when I was coaching....I would do my job reviews, and sometimes have to fire coaches because their 16 and 17 year old players, didn't play up to par. Taking a man's 90k a year paycheck and livelihood because of this.....then i would think, this coach didn't step up and his failure to do so, could have caused me my livelihood. Driving a bus or corvette doesn't matter, all that matters is, did you get there, not how did you get there. I hope Dak comes through as our bus driver....he's all we got.

Didn't get to finish my career because of multiple knee, ankle and shoulder surgeries. 4 broken bones, torn ligaments in my right shoulder, multiple left shoulder dislocations, 3 concussions, complete ankle reconstruction, within the next few months I'll need 2 knees replacements and spinal fusion surgery....I guess I was a coward in the minds of some ignorant fans that sat up in the stands, eating popcorn and spewing out stupid comments.....tough talking fans....lol! Coward? Put a little extra butter in your popcorn....that's what real men do.

Whenever anyone tries to downplay/ minimize the most important position on the field is when I will respond in kind.

It's what the other 31 General Managers are looking for.
It's the starting point to foundational success as historical stats support.

If you want to believe that QB is just another starter of the 22 you do that.

I will tell you that having a defense is secondary to elite quarterbacking regardless of this most recent SB in which I countered your argument with my opinion that Dak STILL would have lost.

Coaching and quarterbacking matters.
As a matter of fact they are items number 2 and 3 to overall NFL success. Right under number one.

The Dallas Cowboys are zero for 3 with all 3 above mentioned position holders as repeated failures at their jobs.

Rodgers threw a miracle to the sideline for a huge 1st down on that game winning drive.

I was highlighting the two seasons where I thought the Cowboys TEAM was good enough to maybe make a SB appearance. I left out seasons where I did not think they were good enough for one reason or another. 2007 and 2016 they went 13-3, had first round byes and were pretty good on both sides of the ball for the most part. 2007 was probably a stronger team than 2016 but both were good teams.

I am not here defending Dak. If you research my posts going back to 2020 you will find I thought Jerry made a mistake signing Dak to a $40 million contract. I thought that money was crazy and cited the 2019 19-7 Eagles loss as the reason I would not have paid Dak $40 million. That was a huge game for Dallas and Dak was awful. Some folks blamed his shoulder injury, but as I pointed out, he had a huge game against Washington the following week. So much for a bad shoulder.

But, Dak is here to stay since Jerry stupidly thought he was worth $60 million and $230 million guaranteed, and simply I will not accept that the Cowboys put the entire blame for this team on Dak. Look at this roster. If anyone thinks this roster is better than a 7-10 team I say take off the rose colored glasses. Look at the RBs, the WRs, the DTs, heck the entire DL and the OL and tell me with a straight face this team can compete with the Eagles or Chiefs. The Cowboys were a bad team last year because they had too many bad players. Dak is just an excuse for some folks who maybe refuse to face reality.

Is Dak a great QB? No, not even close. Does Dak have his flaws. Yes, he does. Is Dak worth $60 million? No way. I am not sure he earned his $40 million yet. But Hurts winning a SB should be encouragement. Hurts was not great even in 2024. He had a great game in the SB. But maybe that's because he plays behind a great team that protected him. And this is what I am saying about Dak. Give him 2 top WRs, a top TE, a great RB and great OL and a great defense, and I think he can win a SB too. It takes all the pressure off of him.

What I do know is that the thinking that a QB, WR, Edge rusher, and a CB getting a lot of money means the team is better is nuts. The Eagles are good from top to bottom and that is the bar that has been set. No one is going to convince me the Hurts is a top 5 QB in this league. Watch him for the entire season. Too many people put too much emphasis on one game.

I have respect for the military...my son in law is in the Air Force, one of my uncles retired as a Brigadier General, another as a Major, two of three others earned Purple Crosses in Korea. But, I wouldn't disrespect them by equating what they did with the point at hand, which is football.
BTW it was a football injury and the reconstructive surgery that kept me out of the military.
