The fact are ownership believe he’s one of the best is a core issue for us. And keep expecting him to carry us.

He just isn’t the best or one of the best in the league. Dont know many fans who would argue that.

But it certainly explains why we are paying him, the type of team we have built around him and the continued lack of success.

He’s a top 15 QB, but his body is failing him rapidly and he’s a shell of his former self.

To be regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the league as in elite then surely by year 10 said quarterback will have either been league MVP or played in a Superbowl. Dak has achieved neither. He is not in the elite club of Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Jackson or Hurts.

Dak was so freaking lucky! He was about to have the worst season of his career when he jumped ship.

But I need to give my honest opinion as well.

I feel the same...Dak has some talent, if healthy. He take a lot of heat, comes with the job and contract, but every players and coach, is reliant on others to step up and do there jobs as well. I remember when I was coaching....I would do my job reviews, and sometimes have to fire coaches because their 16 and 17 year old players, didn't play up to par. Taking a man's 90k a year paycheck and livelihood because of this.....then i would think, this coach didn't step up and his failure to do so, could have caused me my livelihood. Driving a bus or corvette doesn't matter, all that matters is, did you get there, not how did you get there. I hope Dak comes through as our bus driver....he's all we got.

A coward? Lol! I'm 58 years old, I can barely walk. Didn't get to finish my career because of multiple knee, ankle and shoulder surgeries. 4 broken bones, torn ligaments in my right shoulder, multiple left shoulder dislocations, 3 concussions, complete ankle reconstruction, within the next few months I'll need 2 knees replacements and spinal fusion surgery....I guess I was a coward in the minds of some ignorant fans that sat up in the stands, eating popcorn and spewing out stupid comments.....tough talking fans....lol! Coward? Put a little extra butter in your popcorn....that's what real men do.

A top 15 QB is probably more accurate. And your strategy building around a middle of the pack QB would be much different than one who they believe is one of the best.

Jethro has been All In on Prescott since he benched Romo. And it’s entirely possible its become more about proving he was right than what’s in the best interest of Cowboys football.

But you also need a QB who won't choke, especially in the first two quarters. Hurts might not be a great QB, but he didn't choke through the playoffs like a certain number 4.

Whenever anyone tries to downplay/ minimize the most important position on the field is when I will respond in kind.

It's what the other 31 General Managers are looking for.
It's the starting point to foundational success as historical stats support.

If you want to believe that QB is just another starter of the 22 you do that.

I will tell you that having a defense is secondary to elite quarterbacking regardless of this most recent SB in which I countered your argument with my opinion that Dak STILL would have lost.

Coaching and quarterbacking matters.
As a matter of fact they are items number 2 and 3 to overall NFL success. Right under number one.

The defense let them down at the end of the game but they were in that game for 60 minutes. Dak did not choke that day. He actually led them back from a 28-13 deficit to tie the game with 58 seconds on the clock until the Packers kicked the game winning FG with 3 seconds on the clock. Rodgers threw a miracle to the sideline for a huge 1st down on that game winning drive.

Since then, they really haven't had what I would call a SB worthy team. In 2023 they were close except they had issues on defense that were evident the entire year. GB exploited their inability to stop the run. Aaron Jones, who always seemed to give the Cowboys fits, did so again. But in the off-season rather than fix the 2 holes in the Cowboys lineup, they actually made things worse.

And here we are. If the defense did not choke in 2016-2017 to give the Packers the win, I wonder what we would be saying about Dak now.

Dak usually starts flat, and throws picks in most playoff games and his prevent defense catchup game is always touted post game as too little too late. When in actuality he's a master at this type of performance. Makng it look as though it was closer than it was when it really wasnt.
The GB game in which you mention is his almost comeback standard Prescott. Suck for a half to more of a game and then the comeback attempt falling short against opposition prevent defenses.
And lastly, you seem to have left out the first 49ers road loss when the defense totally balled out in which had Micah post game saying we did our job meaning the defense.
Add the following second SF home playoff loss and then the most recent Green Bay debacle and that pretty accurately illustrates the type playoff performances he is capable of over a 10 year career.
All GMs pay their lions share of cap resource dollars to the quarterback position.
But the Cowboys were cursed with a GM who mis evaluated a 4th rd QB who walked into the best oline in the NFL as a rookie along with a top RB of 3 to 4 years.
In year 10 his footwork is absolutely awful and his dear in headlights sideline look has become a staple when facing .500 or above competition.
You normally have excellent player reviews listing traits and opinions of players I agree with.
I just think you are super way off on this one.
But I can still respect that as your opinion.
