Stephen unsure about starting Lance this week

We want to finish strong...after the Philly nutcracker? Bwahahahahah!
This is the reason why he should just shut up. The optics and how this sounds is so bad.

He should have just said I will leave that decision up to the coaches.

My concern is this type of behaviour means the team will be run pretty much the same way when Jerry passes on. Stephen Jones will fancy himself as the Dallas Cowboys in the same fashion as his father did.

The spotlight will be on him.

Finish strong???? What the hell does that mean????These guys are a JOKE! And shouldn't that be a coaching decision? That's why NO REAL coach will ever come to Dallas. They have to go through coach Jerry and Stephen to get anything done. Yet. We wonder why 30 years have gone like 30 years. It's because of 2 IDIOT'S unqualified to run an NFL team.

Finish strong is code for Cooper Rush will start the game.

At this stage they are probably worried if he goes out and plays well they would look stupid for not playing him sooner.

Maybe Stephen will die young.

That's why I'm confused some guys think a good HC will fall over himself trying to coach the Cowboys lol.

How was the trade good at the time? It is and has always been a horrible trade.
A 4th round pick for a QB. They said, if we could believe them. They wanted to look for a QB around the 4th round anyway. But it did not fall their way. So to take a flyer on a former 1st round pick that did not have a lot of playing time. Yes it was a good trade.

As I said HINDSIGHT since they refused to give him a chance, yes it looks bad.
Can you understand that?

Or maybe they know just how bad he is and want to hide it. The more he’s exposed, the less his value. Some other incompetent GM may give up a 6 or 7 for him.
He's a free agent after this season - there is zero risk other than the Joneses looking dumb for trading for Lance.

Two reasons for this.

1. They want Lance back for next season and don't want to expose him to anyone else so as to keep the contract offers low.

2. They have decided they have absolutely no plans to keep him and thus playing him would be pointless.

Those are the only reasons I can think up for not starting him. You aren't playing for anything except draft position so losing would be beneficial. Not that I would be upset if they won. I don't have it in me for that.
The coach tries to win every game. That's why I think Lance hasn't played much. Besides that, I think the Cowboys win next week whether Lance starts or not. Washington is going to have all backups and practice squad players playing.

With all due respect, it was a dumb trade at the time, and numerous people stated that it was. The thing with Lance is that he had very little quarterbacking experience. He started one year in high school. He only played one season at North Dakota State. He only started four games with the 49ers, and has only started 21 games since high school, which he graduated from in 2018. What Lance needed was playing time. He was never going to get that in Dallas with Prescott on the team. And, with no playing time, he was not going to ever really develop, as his greatest issue was lack of snaps and looks at a real defense playing full speed and scheming against him. The trade made zero sense on that basis.

The trade did make sense. Is it his or the fans fault the FO is stupid. As soon as Dak went down, he should have gotten playing time. Then they would know or possibly know more by now.

I think you can extrapolate that he hasn't gotten playing time because he has not been good in his preseason play in Dallas, and I would wager that he hasn't been much better in practice. With McCarthy coaching for his job, if Lance gave him a better chance to keep his job (by winning games and performing well), he would have played. Acquiring Lance was a bad move because his biggest deficiency was a lack of game time, and he wasn't going to get it in Dallas. And, the fact that he hasn't gotten any burn going into Week 18 of a train wreck season should speak volumes.

And they still traded for him.
Remember. Jerry Jones is a football genius--inside his head. His football genius outwitted his own front office by orchestrating the trade without them knowing. Genius.
