Rich Eisen: How will this offense actually be in the care of [Tony] Romo that would make this team better? Give me the coach's point of view on that Steve.

Steve Mariucci: If you break down the passing game in general with Dak [Prescott] right now, and he's been very efficient, but efficient at what they're doing. They're throwing the ball quickly. They're throwing the ball short and intermediate. He's on the move where you narrow the field down to half and it's higher percentages and lower risk. He can protect himself and the ball when he leaves the pocket. There's some really good things that are going on.

They don't attempt to throw the ball down the field much at all. Tony would give them that part of the playbook that has been limited recently.

Apparently people do not want to hear this, they do not believe that teams will start to close in on that? We will find out though, there is no doubt about that!

Has anyone done the breakdown?

Compare Romo's first 6 games in 2014 versus Prescott this year in terms of downfield passes, etc.

My question is why do we have to throw the ball down field, if it's not a necessity to win, right now? Our fly routes with Dez are easy to scheme against, so not having that has made Dak & our O more efficient

I agree that we aren't throwing it down the field but Dak is getting man coverage because of our ability to run the football.

Dak makes this offense hard to stop because defenses have to account for his ability to run as well as all the stuff we do off our run game.

Romo stretches the field for sure but I think we lose this East and West game that Dak plays once Romo comes back.

Romo and Dak bring different things. Dak has the mobility that adds a new demension to the offense. Tony is more of a down field threat. Everyone loves the big plays but come the 4th qtr those long, slow, steady drives start to wear on teams.

On BTB they have and the numbers are pretty much equal. The problem is in the last 9 games of the 2014 season Romo was incredible, 23 TDs, 4 INTs, and an astonishing 123.4 QB rating.

Most fans don't want the change not to upset team chemistry, but Dallas was 12-3 under Romo in 2014 and 3-1 in 2015, that's 15-4.

Romo has played with all the offensive players longer than Prescott. To believe that this team chemistry would just fall apart if Romo was starting again is ridiculous.

That's the key phrase, "right now."

Just because something has been good enough in a handful of games doesn't mean it will remain good enough, and it very likely will not be good enough in the playoffs. You want the threat of throwing downfield (successfully) because it makes the offense more dynamic and opens up things even more for the underneath guys and the running game. I think it's scary to think how good this running game could be with Romo behind center.

It seems odd that their are no statistical top 10 Cowboy players on offense in NFC but Elliott.

I think an argument can be made now on bringing Romo back.

Cowboys are #1 in rushing. The remaining top 5 in rushing is Buff, Tenn, SF and AZ.

Top 5 in passing ; Atl, NO, Wash, Cinn and SD

Top 5 offenses; Atl, N0, Dallas, Car & Cinn.

What do these stats tell us?

We have to get over this notion that, just because Tony Romo is a better option for this season if healthy, that has to mean Dak isn't the savior we've been looking for.

Both can positives can be true. I want to see Romo, but I am so overjoyed that we've found Dak. It's Ginger and Maryanne.

Romo can do both, as he did in 2014.

And soon enough, Dak will do both, too.

My issue is that we're putting 7's on the board at a high clip ever since the 1st game where we had issues in the red zone. 7 is 7. I think some are into "style points"... I happen to think we're actually very versatile, efficient and dynamic right now. Going into week 6, the #1 rush D (at the time) was supposed to make us one dimensional and "expose" us. If I told you before hand that Romo would put up 28 and 30 vs Cincy and GB respectfully, most would be ok with that.

I'd rather be deserted on Gilligans Island with Maryanne.

All kidding aside. I'm not even sure Romo needs to be a 100% to provide a better opportunity for us. But I do agree Dak might eventually provide a better opportunity. Very tough to measure except in the final results.

I still think Jerry is going to screw it up and that might be going with public opinion wave instead of making the tougher decision .
