That's a stretch. They'll be really good but I don't think they will be the best team in the West.

if they get howard without giving up more than bynum? i dont see how they arent, they were closer to the top 2 teams in the west this past year than the fourth best IMO, they upgraded one of their biggest weaknesses, and adding a top 5 player in the league would solidify one of the others. steve nash can run the offense, they would have no problem scoring, and dwight controls the paint on defense better than anyone since tim duncan's prime, they still have that kobe fella to boot.

I'd imagine they'd give up Gasol+Bynum.

no way, the magic would gladly take just bynum and mwp for him and hedo, they arent getting anything better than bynum in any other trade, and they would be ridding themselves of one of the worst contracts in the NBA, im not sure about the lakers contract situations, but im pretty sure MWP only has 1 year left on his deal, 2 max

as it stands, however, if they dont get howard, i think the lakers have just joined the dogfight for the top of the west with the spurs and thunder, i think those 3 teams are the class of the west

Maybe not, but we'll certaintly be in the mix. I'm not gonna lie I'm pretty damn excited right now. We just got a legit star point guard for peanuts.

A source familiar with the Lakers' thinking told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Dave McMenamin the team intends to keep its core of Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum together next season now that Nash will be in the fold.

Source: ESPN

Don't buy it. I still see L.A. trading for Howard, but I wouldn't have a problem if we kept the core intact.

I disagree. I think they keep them together. Howard isn't committed to LA past next year. Plus they've won a championship with that team. Now that they have a point guard, I think they give Gasol/Bynum another chance.

Still an not a real athletic team. I still think OKC can run them out of the building.

Diff. story with Dwight though. Then they'll be the clear faves.

Lakers haters are funny.

We just got one of the greatest point guards of all time for NOTHING and we can't compete with OKC? :lmao2:

I'm not saying we'd beat them for sure, but we'd be more competitive for sure. I really don't think there's a clear favorite in the West right now. It's basically the Thunder, Spurs, Lakers, and everyone else.

I think he'll commit to L.A. now. Dwight has wanted to play with Nash for a long time, but was never able to. If he still doesn't agree to stay then he's the biggest moron in America. Well he already is. :laugh1:

Your talking about playing with two sure fire/first ballot hall of famers in Nash and Kobe and the most skilled big in the league in Gasol. This is Dwight Howard after all. Dude changes his mind like me and you change underwear. Like I said though if we chose to keep Drew I'd have no problem. I'm a big Bynum fan.

Yes he is. He's been under the radar the last couple of seasons because his team has been awful, but he's still a great player.

Well I know Nash needs the ball in his hands alot as does Kobe. I'm not sure he's the right pg for L.A

I think Fisher was the perfect pg for LA . They should have kept him.

That Euro guard (Dravig)? would have fit well with the Lakers I think.
