For having such a terrible offense this season, Philly sure does score a lot of points still...

They've scored <30 points once this season. Foles has 1300 yards and 8 TD's. McCoy had his best game of the season this week.

The same people hyping Dallas a little too quickly, need to pump the break when they put down the Eagles.

All that said, the Giants were the best of the bunch this week. THAT is what worries me. This isn't a two horse race anymore.

This Cowboys team has already played about 1/3 of the season, and they do deserve merit to this point. It has surpassed that of both the Giants and Washington. And on accomplishments, deserve a stronger stance overall, than the Eagles.

Just going on merit for this season...as to Philadelphia, they have become basicly a west coast offense now. That is even a shorter passing area of use today, than the pass patterns run by Dallas.

Philly is looking good against teams that aren't good. We will expose their weak offense like last season.

Very well said. It honestly was kind of the opposite before now.

The physical nature of this team is the best thing that could've happened to Dallas. You will wear down a lot of teams with that.

Yep. The physicality for the offense comes from the five guys on O-line (and Witten because he's a thumper), but so far it seems like the defense lives and dies with McClain. It's great to see him playing so well but I really want some other guys to step up.

i agree the giants scare me more than the eagles right now, as when you think the giants are really bad they find a way to win just look at the years they wonthe superbowls against the patriots people were writing them off and then they win. Just like the year we were 14-2 and they come to our house in the playoffs and beat us or maybe we just beat ourselves with fassano dropping a td pass and crayton stopping on a route and the only thing in front of him was the endzone!!

I think they always had an identity. It was live and die by Tony Romo's arm.

Good point.

As long as they win I don't care about "identity". People want to say that they're all about running the ball now, but Romo has had to be more than a bus driver in order to win games this year.

I don't have a link because I saw it on "The Aftermath" today on the NFL Network.

Basically, after watching highlights of the Dallas/Houston game and the Philly/St. Louis game, Wyche said (and I am paraphrasing): "Both The Cowboys and The Eagles are sitting atop the NFC East at 4-and-1, but I feel better about Dallas because only one of those teams has an identity. When you are going to play Dallas, you know what you're going to get. They're going to come in and pound the ball. They're going to be more physical than you on both sides of the ball. I'm not sure what Philly is."

They go on to talk about how the Eagles don't have an identity, how what they were doing on offense last year that worked, isn't working this year.

Music to my ears. I haven't heard that about this time in a long, long, time.

I truly believe that the East is Dallas's to lose. It's CLEAR that the Eagles aren't what they were last year. Defenses aren't as caught off guard as they were in 2013. Teams aren't scared to stack the box and challenge Nick Foles to beat them through the air, cuz guess what- he can't. They've been EXTREMELY fortunate these past 2 weeks with all of the non-offensive TD's they've had. But that well will dry up quickly.

I do think the division is still going to come down to us vs Philly, but I don't see how anyone could possibly say that they're the more complete team.

Crazy change of observations in the NFL eh?

I will take a win any day over "identity" but it sure is nice to see the Cowboys find an Identity. We all have waited a long time for these Cowboys to return to the days of being ....physical, mentally strong and with an identity.....gives me flash backs of the 90's cowboys....

Don't no what switch got flipped...but lovin every minute of it.

IDK, I don't like that the Eagles keep winning games they should lose when their offense is not working as advertised, because I think Chip's too good a coach to not figure out the offense eventually.

I don't expect the Eagles offense to continue sputtering all year like they have these last couple weeks, but I also don't think they're going to be near as effective as they were last year.

Chip may be a good coach, but I really don't think they have the talent on offense that they were billed for. They're absolutely missing Jackson BIG TIME. Nobody is scared of Riley Cooper or Maclin. And Foles does not look good at all. That honeymoon is over. He's just so damn doppy and unathletic for Chip's scheme. The designed roll outs are almost comical, and he's looked uncomfortable pretty much every game.

If you can stop the run (which isn't that difficult of a task right now), their offense turns to poop.

This is what I don't get. I can't understand why Romo's class as a QB has to be downgraded just because we run more better and throw less. Romo is just as good if not better than he was a year or two ago. It's like people equate one with the other and they are two separate entities in their own. John Elway was just as great with Terrell Davis, but the run game made the team better, Not the qb worse! It's not like Romo can't still make all the throws that we need made like he shown this year and last. He just doesn't have to do it as much, but his efficiency is still elite IMO. I wish folk would just understand/ see that running the ball MAKES THE TEAMS BETTER, not Romo worse!

Glad to see us be more physical than our opponents. I'd also like to see us faster, too.

They've scored <30 points once this season. Foles has 1300 yards and 8 TD's. McCoy had his best game of the season this week.

They have scored a lot of points, but some of those were either defensive or special teams scores.

vs Jacksonville 34-17, WIN
*The Eagles had 7 of those points from a fumble returned for a TD.
* Philly gained 420 yards.
*Foles passed for 322 yards.
*McCoy rushed for 41 yards

vs Indy 30-27, WIN
*I don't think any defensive or special teams points were scored, so the offense appears to have gotten them 30 on this day.
* Philly only gained 458 yards.
*Foles passed for 331 yards.
*McCoy rushed for 79 yards

vs Washington 37-34, WIN
*In this game they got 7 points from a kickoff return TD.
* Philly gained 379 yards while the Commanders gained 511 yards with their 2nd string QB.
*Foles passed for 325 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT.
*McCoy rushed for 22 yards.

vs San Francisco 21-26, LOSS
*All 21 points that Philly scored were from a blocked punt for a TD, an INT return TD, and a punt return TD. Their offense scored 0.
* Philly only gained 213 yards while SF gained 407 yards.
*Foles passed for 191 yards.
*McCoy rushed for 17 yards.

vs St. Louis 34-28, WIN
* Seven points was from a blocked punt returned for a TD and 7 more from a fumble returned for a TD... so 14 from defense and special teams.
* Philly only gained 352 yards while the Rams gained 466 yards with their 3 string QB.
*Foles passed for 207 yards.
*McCoy rushed for 81 yards

Foles has averaged 275 yards passing per game.

McCoy has averaged 48 yards rushing per game.

Their defense and special teams have scored 49 points so far this year.

They are scoring 31 points per game, but taking away points the offense didn't score, they are averaging 21... or a full 10 points less.

I'm not saying the Philly offense isn't any good, but you can't look at total points scored and give yourself a clear view of how their offense has been playing. Their defense and special teams have just scored to much to ignore it when talking about the Eagles offense. Without the defense/special teams scores, they likely lose to both Washington and St. Louis, but that is a slippery slope because we can't know that for sure.

I haven't seen enough to honestly say much, either way. Just a few quarters of the WAS game and the SF rewind. They definitely miss Jackson, which is great. And Foles isn't what everybody thought he was--though that much was pretty predictable. I do think Chip will find a way to be fairly productive with what he's got, though, eventually. They do have talent.

I'm curious to see how we're going to defend there passing game. That's our weakest area.

I think "fairly productive" is a reasonable expectation considering what they appear to be, as an offense. I just think by year's end we'll find that the 2014 version of Chip's offense will pale in comparison to the 2013 version.

Faulk can't stand Irvin's homerific tendencies. Dallas will have to do very well all year long to keep Marshall from giving Mike hell all year long about his dominant quote. Irvin also said that the Dallas offense was unstoppable if Terrance Williams starts playing very well. Faulk won't let him (or anyone) forget.

The only way people could continue to say Philly is the better team is because they won the division last year and because they are expecting a collapse by Dallas. Won't they be surprised when it doesn't come?

I agree, the Giants have turned it around. I'm as concerned about NY as I am Philly.

Faulk can get over it. Mike is a Cowboy for life. Just like you and me. :)

To a point. But if we have Carter, Durant and McClain available at LB to stop McCoy, that forces Foles to attack us by air. They've always had smaller receivers which our guys play better against, other than Cooper who seemed to take advantage of Claiborne often....but I think Moore will do a better job. And the safeties are getting better on their angles and tackling (other than the second half of the last game for some reason). Scandrick is playing solid and Carr better than last year. I think we'd have a really good shot at keeping their O to under 20 points
