Twitter: Steve Young thinks the Cowboys can learn a lot from Cooper Rush's performance

If he wins you the next two games, and looks good doing it I think that conversation becomes very real....
Rush is just a placeholder until we draft or trade for a real quarterback, which we don't have at this time.

I hope I'm wrong and he turns into a Kurt Warner. He seems like a good guy and probably works hard at his job.

I do think he has helped his image in what people think of him.

Dak tends to play like an MVP against the really bad defenses of the NFC East that can't get pressure on him. Ouside the warm confines of the NFC East, Dak has been a mediocre QB. Games like the Cincy game against a defending conference champ haven't been the kind of games where Dak has looked particularly good. He needs to have a lot of talent around him playing at peak levels to look good. I wasn't surprised at all about his Tampa meltdown b/c I remember the years before Amari Cooper and games with Tyron Smith out. He seems incapable of overcoming any kind of adversity. So, with the OL and wrs we have now, give me cooper rush.

I agree completely, often times even saying mediocre is generous, but putting all your chips in the pot on Rush is a dangerous game. Lets see what the next few weeks look like. He has a weaker arm and can be a statue in the pocket. Teams are going to start throwing different looks at him and break down the Cincinnati tape. Lets see how he responds and go from there. Even Mike White lit up the Bengals last year for a game before going right back to being a bad quaterback. We need a bigger sample size.

ehh... not what he said at all. and spoke from his personal (highly decorated) experience. if you heard something else it's because you wanted to. carry on though sir.
Did Steve Young not say Prescott need to learn the basic fundamentals from Rush?
It's his opinion, but it's interesting he would say that about a player who has been been with his current team for 7 years.

Dang truth hits home quick looks like for Dak.
Wish him the best, but this could get embarrassing really quick if not played right.
Yep. Prescott will likely be hoping the team loses one of the next two games as will his fanclub although they could be hoping the team loses both games. Not real fans of the team.

no. that is not what he said. you realize there’s video attached with the words coming directly out of his mouth right?

There was a rhythm in the first half, for sure. It will come down to Moore and what he does to adjust to fit Rush's skill set. However, the 2nd half was concerning. The offense was pretty flat. There were some big stops by the defense to help get us in position to win. Rush did come through, obviously, on the last drive. But I don't like how we weren't able to put the game away.

Your screen name is hilarious!

I just don’t get all this Rush love. We’ve seen this guy play for years. He’s not a starting NFL QB. Did anyone forget the 5 ints that were dropped in the bengals game? The horrible out throws that showed his lack of arm strength? He wasn’t asked to do much and the gameplan was obviously locked down. He played well and made some good throws in the clutch. But you’re not winning anything with this guy at the helm. You can’t run this conservative gameplan week in and week out and expect to win. Not with Dallas’ questionable running attack. Even if you hate Dak, you know Rush isn’t even close to being the answer. Romo and Dak showed flashes with their physical ability before taking the starting role. If Rush takes the starting job for whatever reason, this season is truly over.

Omg….this forum is the worst. Every thread turns into Dak (and now Rush) bashing. It’s crazy.

Women don't play organized tackle football with some very very limited exceptions. Here is two guys that played in the ultimate league, the NFL.

So why is it that she is the one that makes sense?

That's what some Cowboys fans may not understand. The Cowboys are the most hated team in the NFL. Part of it is Jerry, but the majority of it is the history.

I wish we could just go with that. Instead we have to criticize a TD pass. Just to make damn sure everyone knows he sucks.

Hum wondered if Steve was trying to help dak or was he trying to insult him. hum seems like RGIII is in the same boat too. Is this why Colin said Dak was being coddled and nobody was questioning his play? hum. the awakening

No doubt! And there's nothing wrong with having a placeholder while you're actively searching. I very much like what Andy Reid did in KC, he had a placeholder for years while he built the team and kept looking for a QB capable of going all the way. Jerry's reputation (what's left of it) has taken a huge hit because he's made it clear he isn't looking for a QB, he thinks Dak is that guy and he's not even considering replacing him.
