Jerry doesn’t run the draft. That’s Will McClay’s board. Jerry doesn’t even travel nearly as much as he used to during the draft process.

Jerry doesn’t run the cap. That’s Stephen’s job, Jerry would interefere(Deion) but he doesn’t seem to do that nearly as much.
Jerry is The main spokesperson for cowboys, and retains GM
Title, but Stephen Is the active GM.
If Jerry was still running things,
They would have drafted manziel, and romo would have taken over from dak late 2016

Think it depends on who officially becomes the owner when Jerry dies. Gotta hope whoever the owner becomes does a mark Davis move and hires a real GM

Until a jones isn’t related to jerry, I don’t see any significant changes. He has all of his family under his thumb.

I tend to disagree. I think Steven is more calculated. I really think he will be a much better version of his dad which is t all bad.

There's a better chance of this happening before Jerry wins a SB as GM.

Stephen will hire a brilliant football mind. Step aside and let the mind win a SB, then he'll **** it all up, just like daddy.

Do you guys think Steven will change anything if and when he becomes the GM of the Cowboys? If you think it will be different, in what way?

I actually think he'll be fine as a GM. He strikes me as more in the Belichick / Patriot mode than his pappy. That is, it's business and he's not afraid to let someone walk. Daddy gets too enamored with the players and can't truly admit when he's wrong. He'll give lip service about being wrong, but his actions don't line up with that. The GM doesn't have to be an all-knowing talent evaluator, Tex Schramm wasn't. The GM needs to be an effective manager - surrounding himself with people that each are experts in their areas of responsibility and hold them accountable for their performance.

I might be wrong, but I don't see Stephen as someone who would hire the OC and DC before hiring the HC.

He is the spittin' image of his old man and no more competent. It's good to be a lucky sperm.

The Highland Park Hillbillies are going to run this well beyond our lifetime. Once you are resigned to this, it all falls into place. It's not about winning as they've already won.

IMO, Stephen doesn't seem to be the "risk taker" his daddy is. We've all heard the story of how he backed Jerry up against the door when he signed Deion (disagreed over the money and the impact it would have). I've also heard SJ was dead set against the signing of Greg Hardy. To me, it feels like he'll be a little safer with with the finances.

I know what Jerry is. I can guess/partially know what Stephen is. Lesser of two evils for the immediate future is? I think Stephen wins that choice. If we could move away from the Jones family all together there would be a refreshed hope but that will take a miracle or a evolutionary change we don't see coming atm.

He needs to take a breath, step back, and hire a professional...

Just imagine how boring Stephen will be compared to Jerry... if nothing else, Jerry’s been comedy gold since day one...

Isn't Will McClay already the GM? Seems like he just told the Texans he was.

Something tells me that Stephen is more likely to cut a Dez or Witten than Jerry.

I don't see him having the ego that his father does. I suspect he will be much less quite to the media and no matter what is happening in the building, the coach will not look undermined. Jerry hurts his team more by what he says than what he does.

I do. I don't think he has an ego like Jerry. He'll hire people to do the job imo. I'm not saying Dolby the right decisions and the right hires but it's better than what we have now.

I don't think Stephen would be any worse than his father, and he might well be better,
