I know there is some truth to their claim, but I'm ready for the veil to be lifted and a real GM hired. Jerry wants credit if the Cowboys eventually win. I'm hoping Stephen is more worried about the team winning than taking credit for anything.
I think/hope this is the way it turns out. I don't see Stephen quite as egotistical as his father to be the front and center face of the DC. Jerry's ego has painted himself in many corners as a GM only to have egg on his face at the end of the day. Just hope Stephan sees through all of that and realizes that notoriety will come through Super Bowl rings, not a colossal stadium and helping other teams make $$.

Sorry but as much as I’ve ehated jj being gym and his big mouth in media all the time, that’s something that went on 15 years ago..it set this team back..

HOWEVER REALLY JUDGE THIS TEAM FROM WHATS GONE ON the 5 years and SJ has something to do with this, better drafts, less risk in FA , and making decisions like lettting ware and Murray go were tough but were made, and having an identity ..this team has been good sans the romo 2015 debacle..yes even 2017 as horrible as it was 9-7 with tons of injuries and suspensions..we are a playoff team..

I believe SJ ISNT HIS FATHER and when the time comes he will have a true gm. IMO will McClay is the gm and like was said above more of a committee right now...

You cant keep going back so far and act as if positive change isnt happening..5 years now ive seen change so i think going forward we will be ok..

On point. Playoffs, and winning those playoffs, is the goal and that hasn't been accomplished. But the team is in much, much, much better shape today than 5 or 8 years ago. Stephen, Will McClay, Garrett all deserve credit, as well as Jerry for stepping back as much as he has. It's similar to the Parcells era; no playoff wins, but he returned a moribund, laughing-stock franchise to competitiveness and respectability. Now, Garrett may not be the answer to taking the team to the next level, but he's been instrumental in the positives that have taken place. I think of Garrett like Moses, he got them out of bondage, but can't take them to the Promised Land.

Yeah but you will die content knowingly they were comfortable.
Ouch!! That hurts especially realizing most all of us contributed time, $$, emotional energy to an organization with all the potential in the world which ultimately performed average because of one old mans ego.

I wouldn’t assume Stephen will take over as President and GM. Char and Jerry Jr have actually had as much or more success in their positions.

I believe this is where Garrett comes into the plans as GM in some capacity even in a temporary stewardship or in conjunction with Stephen. Remember Stephen has been co contributor with Jerry this era and no reason to believe he’d be any better or worse. And I don’t see him taking the same flamboyant role as his father.

It will be interesting how this plays out when Jerry passes. We might see a different version if he’s still alive but incapacitated by his health which I believe is only way he steps down. This is most likely headed for an ugly ending as Jerry maintains his control into his 80’s and beyond.

His wife, if he’s still alive, could maintain the same order as we see now but once Jerry is gone there is 3 personalities then with equal voices I’m assuming. If they can’t agree on who’s going to run the team or sell out their shares to the other or others we could see them sell out totally or all agree to hire outside and all be co owners in a lesser role in football operations .

Would Char and Jerry Jr let Stephen run football operations as he sees fit without any oversight from them? I’d use other NFL franchises as a guideline . Usually 1 Heir takes control or inherits power. We haven’t seen 3 Heirs run a team or franchise equally. Jerry’s wife could sell it to keep her children from fighting over it if they’re unable to resolve.

The Jones ownership could end with Jerry.
Stop getting my hopes up.

I don't know he seems to me and this is just my gut feeling and he seems to be the type of guy who will just hire the right people and sit back and enjoy the ride

I hope
I pray

He teamed up with Garrett to convince Jerry to stick with Dak last year ruining the Cowboy's best chance to win a Super Bowl since their last one. That was enough to convince me that if he is in charge of this team, they'll never win it all.

Stephen does not have to be shrewd. That is what Charlotte covers.
Stephen has to have the ability to see the parts that need changing and change them.

Like Risen Star says one thing about what he hopes for.
I have another hope.

Charlotte Jones Anderson is in charge of the Dallas Cowboys.
Stephen Jones covers the Dallas Cowboys football operations.
Jerry Jr. looks after the Dallas Cowboy properties and special projects.

They run it as a group.

I hope Charlotte and Stephen will kick some butt on the football side if the results do not show on the field.

How many Jones does it take to change a lightbulb in this organization?

I really hope he hires a GM and stays out of everything. i dont even want him doing contracts. this will probably be the farthest thing from happening though.

I think Stephen will be better than jerry. he's already done much to cure the salary cap hell jerry managed to screw up. he is less involved personally with the players which was a jerry weakness. I also think he respects his collaboration with will mcclay and would probably make mcclay the gm when he takes over the ship. can't wait for this to be stephen's show.

I think he's already running the team and the whole stick with Garrett thing and no spending in FA is all on him.

As much as I dislike the current FO and the chaos of his dysfunctional football operations (and have expressed my feelings in typical knee jerk responses ,) there have been some changes that can only have been made by more objective perspectives - those of Will McClay and possibly SJ. I am willing to be skeptical instead of outright negative. Besides, what choice do I have? :D I'll keep on cheering the 'Boys on!
