Still a good idea not to sign Peterson?

You want hindsight.

In the 2015 draft Dallas selects Tevin Coleman instead of Randy Gregory. Now you have your running back and the Gregory fiasco never happened.

In the 2016 draft Dallas selects Jalen Ramsey instead of Elliott. Dallas now doesn't have to sign Carroll and when Scandrick is done after this year the secondary looks like Ramsey, Brown, Awuzie, Lewis, and White going into the 2018 draft. Nice young secondary.

Hindsight looks pretty good.
Of course that ignores the fact that Zeke is a better player than either one. I am pretty sure with the benefit of hindsight, I could build a pretty dominating team.

Adrian Peterson was a free agent this year and the Saints got him on the cheap.

First year 2.25 million and a second year essentially open year 4.75 million.

Even if Elliott weren't suspended this would have been the move to make. A significantly better player than Morris and McFadden whose contracts run us 1.3 million and 980k respectively this year.

Would have been a genius move, but I doubt he would have come here. Im sure he wanted to be the main guy, not a backup.

Based on what facts? Ramsey is going to be a stud at a premier position. I would definitely say Zeke is better than Coleman, but given 300+ carries behind our line Coleman would do quite well. He had a good year last year. He just plays with another great back in Atlanta. And lets forget that Coleman will actually be playing games the first 6 weeks of this season.

Not for sure why AP would even consider coming here?

Zeke is a workhorse back. Not sure Peterson would of signed here now that we have a clear cut #1 that we invested heavily in.

He's missed 28 of 48 possible games the past 3 seasons, and he's 32 years old. Why do you think they got him on the cheap?

No way he would have come here - end of story

Zeke walked in and was the best RB in the league. Coleman is nowhere near the same and has had inj problems, missing 3-4 games each year.

Ramsey certainly made nowhere near the same effect last year. Maybe this year but wasn't last year.

People really do think signing players is like Madden.

Peterson was a free agent for awhile this offseason, I'm sure many teams wanted to sign him as a backup. No chance AD wanted to sign here to play behind Zeke. Nobody thought Zeke was staring at a 6 game suspension at the time either but I doubt that would've mattered to a guy that views himself as a top running back in the league.

I get that people may not have been interested in signing Peterson, but hanging your hat on "meh, he would have never came because he would have wanted to start" mantra is bogus.

He signed with New Orleans where he'll be splitting carries with Mark Ingram (coming off a 1,000+ yard, 5.1 YPC season) and rookie 3rd rounder Alvin Kamara.

Barring injury to those two, he'll be lucky if he sniffs 200 carries.

Zeke walked into the best Oline in football on a great offense. And no he wasnt the best RB last year stat wise or other.

And I wouldnt expect a CB to have the same impact as a back first year. Though he showed that is going to be good going forward. For probably like 10 years instead of 5. And up to this point he hasnt been suspended. You add Ramsey to the other young secondary rookies we have now and you are looking about he best young secondary in the league. Add a health Jaylon to that haul and we are well on our way to a great D. One pass rusher away.

I'm sure you loved the Smith pick when it was made.

There wasn't a better back in football last year.

If we had him I doubt many of us would care about Zeke getting suspended. At the same time I doubt Peterson wants to play back up here in Dallas.
