Giving in to Zeke’s demands may have just made signing Dak and Amari even tougher.

Not defending Garret. But, we are stuck with him and their roster is better. With Dak in the final year of his deal, this was the offseason to go all out and make a run. We just kinda sat back, signed an above average DE in Quinn, and will apparently roll with what we had last year.
The feeling is they will get the improvement of the players on the team to take that next step and they could be right. L, Collins, Gallup, Prescott, Cooper and Elliott improve on one side and Lawrence and Lee stay healthy and LVE and J. Smith take the next step and the secondary just stays the same and they should improve.

I won't defend Garrett either but I also won't buy the idea he would keep this team from achieving success.

I don’t think they minded Elliot not showing to TC and we don’t play him preseason. The jaw jacking wasnt needed but that’s them. And we don’t know what Elliot’s side was originally asking. Maybe 17 a year or something unreal. In the end both sides bent.

True and in practically all negotiations, it ends that way. It's like a marriage, in the sense that compromise is all in achieving success.

It shouldn’t be. Take the temperature of the forum today. It’s what most wanted. (I wasn’t among them.)

The temperature of the forum today is partly related to a degree of resignation and acceptance. Last week IMO the majority were against making him the highest paid RB this year

I was until that pc when Booger played the "stand my ground" card and then made another offer, it was a fait accompli at that point and Elliott and his agent knew that.

On the team side of this is, right or wrong, they've built this offense to go through Elliott and expecting a first time OC to overcome that is ridiculous. Turner is a strong OC and he struggled when the hub was removed from the wheel.

They did try to sell the lack of Elliott not being a problem but no one was buying. It doesn't matter whether they need him or not, they believe they do, that does matter.

This thread is about Jerry
First of all. I respect that you tried and stuck to your guns about your theory. That's what life's about being an individual even though you may have failed I understand it

The Rams could have cut Gurley in March and it would have been a 1 year, 21M dollar contract.

Keeping him past the March date made it into a 3 years, 40M fully guaranteed contract.

The Rams must not be regretting it all that much; otherwise they would have taken the one time 7M extra hit and moved on.

Agreed. Eventually the planets will align and we'll advance to the nfc championship.

When it became apparent Zeke was holding out at the beginning of training camp this summer, Stephen Jones famously declared, “We’re not going to set the market.”

Jerry made chest thumping declarations implying opposition to Zeke’s contract position. Remember “Zeke Who”? Remember his long winded wandering defiant answers at Jaylon Smith’s contract extension press conference? Or his calls to a Dallas radio station?

I don’t have a problem with Zeke’s contract. Glad he’s getting paid. My problem is with the frequent and distracting mouth running of our front office. The Jones boys love to talk. But in the end, they don’t say much that ends up being true.
Every jot and tittle at face value.

And unfortunately for fans making money trumps winning.

Fans need to accept this is a business. Winning is secondary for all parties involved. There is no need to get emotional about contracts, holdouts, etc. Watch the game for the mindless entertainment it is. Talk crap, get in the moment and have fun. Don't think these players want to win over getting every penny that they think they deserve.

Who knows how this deal will work out?

But Jerry looks like a moron after all the "I have the backbone to see this out" comments and then giving Zeke literally everything.

How is it Jerry and Stephens job for winning playoff games if the roster they built got them there? If the coaching isn’t good enough then they’ll upgrade it after the year.

They stacked the roster so now it’s known is it a roster problem or coaching problem.

Giving the Jones boys credit for the roster while blaming "coaching" for coming up short is disingenuous, given that they also hire the coaches.

Jerry could hire the best of the best coaches but he'll never do it.
