Still believe what the Jones boys say?

Never said we didn't make any changes. But compare what we did to what the Rams did last offseason and Philly did the year before.......those are teams who used the off season to really improve. To say Dallas significantly improved in the off season is smoking a lot of hopium.

In order to "really" improve, you have to make great gains. And it's easy to make great gains when you're a bad or mediocre team.

I don't feel Dallas has, or had, that far to go to contender status, so no they didn't "really" improve, they didn't need to...

I watched the Ram game as i'm sure you did...............we didn't look like contenders. Even with a 50/50 crowd and perfect weather, we never had a chance to win that game. I was really hoping we would do something big this offseason. Deals were there and we whiffed. Signing our own guys for the most money they could possibly make is not managing a team.

As we all know, the reason the Cowboys were so badly manhandled in the game was coaching, I don't see the players were the main problem, so there's wasn't a need to add tons of free agents or draftees to the team.

As far as the Eagles making a lot of changes, the two years before they won the SB they were 7-9 and 7-9, two consecutive losing seasons, and didn't make the playoffs the year before those two. The HAD to make a lot of changes, obviously. Cowboys aren't in that shape.

And what major changes did the Pats do before winning it all this past year? Not a lot.

Just don't agree that the Cowboys didn't improve the team, or that they needed to make major changes. If you think so, hey that's fine, we'll see what happens this year..

Good point. Imagine how good this would have looked if Jerry’s verbal drama never happened.

How do you know it would've happened without Jerry's verbal drama. You have NO idea what Zeke was asking, or how long he was planning to sit if he didn't get it. Just stop. I care about winning games, not how things "look". I've been a fan of this team long enough to know Dallas will never "look" good to the media. No matter what they do or say.

Well, it sounds like you got all the bases covered. If we don't advance in the playoffs, its coaching. No reason to improve the roster. Just keep bringing back the same guys at higher cost and hope for a different result. Thats apparently what they do in NE.

I thought the deal was actually a bit shockingly reasonable.
On the surface it jumps out in print, but when you look deeper and realize that 44% of the money is not guaranteed, it becomes much more reasonable. Realistically the guarantee is only $5 million more than Gurley, and the Cowboys have the ability, if they choose, to control Zeke for 2 years longer than the Rams do with Gurley.

Super Bowl Winner? They can't even built a team capable of advancing past the divisional round playoff. We are basically returning the same team that got smoked by the Rams.....
They've built several teams that have been "capable" of advancing past the divisional round. You can't seriously tell me that 2007, 2014, 2016 and 2018 were not capable of advancing. There is no doubt that they were, but for whatever reason they didn't. They were very close in 07 against NYG (thanks for the drop Patrick crayton), we don't need to revisit 2014 and 2016 to know how close those games were. And yeah, they got punched in the mouth against the rams last year. But to say they weren't capable of advancing is off base.

Isn’t winning in the playoffs the best way to “look good”? Isn’t that what the media respects most? Winning?

When Dallas signed Tryon Smith people thought it was an overpayment, but it was market rate and looks like a very reasonable deal for both sides in hindsight.

Imo, subpar coaching lost the Rams game. We were not the better team (roster + coaching) but a great hc would have made a huge difference. Garrett and company made zero adjustments at halftime.

This has been going on with the Jones boys at least with Jerry since day one when he said there’s no truth to the trade rumors for Herschel Walker. Jerry said on the radio after the 08 season that TO would be back. Both Jones boys said Romo would be back in the lineup when he’s healthy during the 2016 season. Saying one thing and doing another isn’t anything new for the Jones boys.

When it became apparent Zeke was holding out at the beginning of training camp this summer, Stephen Jones famously declared, “We’re not going to set the market.”

Jerry made chest thumping declarations implying opposition to Zeke’s contract position. Remember “Zeke Who”? Remember his long winded wandering defiant answers at Jaylon Smith’s contract extension press conference? Or his calls to a Dallas radio station?

I don’t have a problem with Zeke’s contract. Glad he’s getting paid. My problem is with the frequent and distracting mouth running of our front office. The Jones boys love to talk. But in the end, they don’t say much that ends up being true.
Why do people have to find a reason to complain? I did not want Zeke to get a new contract but it is done. This is how it works if you want a player. Would you be happy if Zeke wasn't playing week 1? Probably not, there would be a different thread about JJ not giving Zeke what he wants. Get over it, this is how the NFL works!

You answered your own question on that one.

A deep playoff run, the standard for our franchise two decades ago, will cure 24 years of frustration but the Jones boys can't produce a winner. Winning cures everything.

They used to describe MLB player Mark Texeira as the guy who could win the lottery and then complain about having to pay the taxes. If you want to win in the NFL, you have to have elite players and you have to pay them elite salaries. Some people will find a way to complain.

Would a Lombardi this year slow down the angst train at all? Could this forum operate even one hour without handwringing doom and gloom?
Probably not but is this any different than any fan forum? This one is driven by entitlement, they owe us.

Yes it is! absolutely and unequivicollly correct sir.

Tell me,what does Jerry speaking to the media during contract negotioations have to do with winning?? Does his camera time impede our win total?

Not defending Garret. But, we are stuck with him and their roster is better. With Dak in the final year of his deal, this was the offseason to go all out and make a run. We just kinda sat back, signed an above average DE in Quinn, and will apparently roll with what we had last year.
