And BOTH would have cost LESS THAN HALF of what they’re paying for Pollard.
The consensus was to look for a RB in the draft as it was deep. But there were some bargains out there in free agency. I would have liked us to keep Pollard (but only on a decent 2-3 year contract). Draft a RB and sign a free agent. I feel we should have cut Zeke last week (it would have been better for him) and signed Penny or Foreman

He is not all that great, but yet fans on here act like it is the signing of the off-season.
When he plays, he has been great. The injuries and missed games are the issue. But in a running back group, the risk is mitigated, as is that cheap cost.

I’m on record against paying Pollard (or ANY running back) big money. And $10 million is big money.

But now I’m curious if they would actually draft Bijan Robinson at 26. If so, you have another quality tandem this year and a bridge to 2024 and adding another one to replace Pollard.

He has. But he’s also gotten hurt. And shown his shortcomings when asked to do things like pass protection.

We absolutely do. Thank you.

While we may disagree, we both ultimately hope for the best for our team.

Jane Slater said yesterday, as she said it was from a team source.
How do you replace the 12 TD's from Zeke. From Pollard. They said no, Pollard is not that type of RB, he can't get those 1 and 2 yard runs like Zeke did.

But yet they gave him $10 million.
12 TD's from inside the 5 is hard to replace. I still think it was a bad move to tag him. Now I am ok he is on the team, but it is a mistake to pay him that much.
Remember Barry Sanders, in which in no way I am comparing them. But they would remove Sanders from the field when they got inside the 5 yard line.

Not saying Zeke should have been kept just for those situations, as his contract needed to be gone.
So how do they replace those 1st downs and TD's.

If you could get Hunt for 3 million with half of it guaranteed, would you consider it? You could be right, but also we know they like to address all needs prior to the draft so they don't have to force picks.
a guys whose numbers continue to go down? Why because he is a name? Hell I just as soon go with a younger player like Davis. Dallas is not in great need of RB so this thought we would reach? This draft is very deep at RB there is no need to reach

They need a guy who is going to pound it into the end zone or get the 3rd and 1 run for a 1st down. That is not Pollard. Zeke could have been the guy but not at $16 million against the CAP.

Not sure they will just head into the draft looking for a complement to Tony Pollard, who we have no idea if he will be ready for training camp. Here are a few names, that should come cheap at this juncture of fa:

-Kareem Hunt Browns
-Damien Harris Patriots
-Leonard Fournette Bucs
-Ronald Jones Chiefs
I would sign DeAnte Foreman as the 3rd back to go with Pollard and a rookie. Can probably get him for 3 million per year.

Nope just draft a guy day 2. Along with the backups here they should be fine. Fix the blocking scheme and they will be ok.

At the least , I would look at a vet RB per post- NFL draft .. you never know what regarded RBs could surprisingly stumble and fall in the rounds.

It seems to happen every year ..every NFL draft.

Agree could be more of a post draft signing, but if you did sign a back to a 1yr little guaranteed contract, he wouldn't prevent a rookie from seeing the field.

I heard that Tyrone Crawford is healthy now and Jerry is going to sign him...

I would just draft a RB early and another one late and see if the practice squad guys can beat out the late rounder.

Free Agents
Darrell Henderson. Pollards college teammate.

Short yardage: Fournette

You don't want to have to reach to fill a need, especially with Pollard's status up in the air when he will return.

Not only that but you need some game experience in case Pollard isn't ready to go. Some expect a rookie to come in and just start lighting it up. If he does.. great, but you got to plan for the likely scenario that that doesn't happen!

More I think about it, believe more of a post draft option.
