I read thread after thread about this AAV of 30something mil. Those that gripe about the AAV really have no idea how this team runs. And there are quite a few on here. In 2007 Romo signed a 6 yr 67.5mil deal and in 2013 he signed a 108mil deal. He never had a caphit of 10mil. Dak will never have a caphit of 34mil in any yr. They will do what they did with Romo and restructure and extend. He will not lose money but ensure he is a lifelong Cowboy. This will be structured like this because he's still so young and make so much more money then other QBs and still never strap the Cowboys cap like Romo never did.

This team is smarter then you, so let them do their jobs.
I'm positive people don't realize how many mathematicians accountants a franchise reaches out to. Or actually outright retains. Every year you hear, we're going into cap hell. And I never seen it be an issue. They still hire the people they want.

Hiring a new coach would be the first thing I did.
Then I would take over scouting. There are many mid to late round players that are killing it for other teams that I openly called for. We would have a more talented roster if I were in charge.
You don't think William McClay is doing an awesome job. You actually think Jason Garrett has lost the locker room.

With the NFL cap in place, Dak Prescott still has to be cheaper than a $2 B electric company, even cheaper that his yacht just purchased...

Jerry Jones launches plans to build casino in Arkansas
https://247sports.com/nfl/dallas-co...rry-Jones-to-build-Arkansas-casino-132938033/

When it comes to his business-savvy and how proficient he's become at turning his billions into more billions, the Dallas Cowboys' owner is as far from complacent as you'll see. He operates as if he has only two pennies to his name, and not necessarily like a person whose net worth is nearing $6.5 billion. Having recently plopped down $425 million of his own cash to help facilitate the purchase of an oil and gas firm in Texas by the one he currently holds a controlling stake in, Jones has turned his eye back to the casino business. In September 2018, the Cowboys became the first NFL franchise to officially partner with one — striking a professional union with Winstar World Casino and Resort in Oklahoma.

Madden doesn't count.
I have two Super Bowl rings Madden LOL during the offseason I was one of the very few advocating for Zack Martin. Everyone told me I was crazy during the off-season they all wanted to repair the defense. I wanted to complete solidified the offensive line first. Yes you build a team in the pits and work your way down the middle. But it's not just about Talent it's about camaraderie of the talent. I guess 60 years of football teaches you that

I would trust several members on this forum to put together a super bowl team over Jerry. Especially me.

:

-They are screwing up by not taking the backup QB position seriously. We have two joke backups with no experience. In a year when you think you have a shot to do something special, you need a QB that can win you a few games.
A lot of NFL teams do not have a competent backup QB.

Not doubting you but the thing was a Superbowl caliber team. Jerry has given us a few teams that has all the talent to go all the way. Coaching and at times players have caused the failure.

Jerry has also drafted late round and even signed undrafted guys that have killed it in the league.

Worst signing wide receiver Roy Williams. Although I understand what he was thinking

The picks we gave up hurt as well. That being said at the time Roy was a really good receiver. By the way I'm not saying Jerry has been perfect with every decision but this myth that anybody could do better is just nonsense.

Jerry has made stupid mistakes but hes also built teams that couldve won championships. At some point you have to stop blaming Jerry and start blaming the players. Theres no reason in hell the 2007 team shouldbt have been playing for a superbowl.

Is it Jerrys fault Aikman, Irvin and Johnston has career ending injuries that crippled the team? That was what cause the collapse. Not Jerry. Theres nothing that couldve stopped that.

With Irvin career in doubt Jerry went out and traded for one of the most feared WRs in the nfl at the time in Galloway. Is it Jerrys fault he had a freak injury and Then Aikmans career comes to an end with another freak hit.

Look at Romos numbers in the playoffs, is it Jerrys fault Romo was weak sauce in the playoffs?

For being so opinionated you dont seem to know much about what this teams gone through the last 20 yrs. Its not all about Jerry.
First, Jerry has made a lot of mistakes.
Second: you can blame players if u like, but good gms and coaches assemble good teams. So yes I blame the owner/GM for the "players".
Jerry chose to over spend on aging stars while neglecting his OL and DLs and drafting complete garbage.
Jerry hired HCs he could totally control when that failed in a cry for help he grabbed BP. We began moving in the right direction but after a year Jerry the GM blew that up. Then we were back "mr. Jocks to socks" running everything. Finally a few years back, he began listening to football people and the future is getting brighter. For the record, I trust them with Daks contract.

However don't ever tell me this train wreck over 20 years is anybody's fault but the conductors. From wasting huge picks on a over priced WR , to overpaying a aging QB with a badback, Jerry's logic has been flawed time and time again.
The Latins are ashamed.

well, we still have a thing called a salary cap. We cannot pay 3,4 players a max deal this year. Someone isn't getting what they want. Only question remains is, which player or players will be left in the cold? I can envision Cooper hitting the open market ..which I would hate. Dak will get paid. Zeke is an enigma. I really have no idea what we will do with him. Byron Jones I used to think would be the odd man out...but I'm starting to think he will be getting a max deal and staying. My money is on Jones and Dak staying and getting paid. Zeke and Cooper are up in the air. Will be interesting what shakes out.
