He's built good rosters over the years. He's givin us travis frederick, tyron smith, zach martin, dlaw, micah parsons, tdiggs, sean lee, dak, zeke, all people that we have drafted just to name a few. Yes some dumb mistakes like not picking tj watt but for the most part he has did his part in building us a contending team. Now we just need a head coach that can take us over the top
are you spaulding??

Can we get a running list of the stupid decisions? It’s much longer than the draft picks mentioned.
A list to cover a list...hey, that's an easy task on anyone not in the Hall...huh?

Come up with a fancy dan X and O stat that proves just HOW EASY it is to win a Lombardi even with the best fielded team...!

Win a Lombardi? How about some playoff games? How many decades does it take to match Jake Delhomme?

I agree with this. He's done a good job assembling talented rosters.

But there is always at least one big whole in the roster and opposing coaches always find a way to exploit it in the playoffs.

And on top of that this team hasn't had a great coach since Jimmy Johnson.

And like others have mentioned he hasn't done a good job managing the cap and contracts. The Zeke deal is an example of that.

That's all on Jerry.

That's kind of like a bunch of 12 year olds commenting about one really large kid at that age...so?:)

He's built good rosters over the years.... such good rosters that they haven't been able to get to the conference championship game, while at the same time the Cardinals, Jets & Jaguars all have been in recent memory

This OP must be on the Joneses PR payroll
Agreed. Wasting talent. Of the 8 non-cowboy offensive lineman that made the all-decade team 7 of them played in a superbowl.

No i'm serious, 7 out of 8 made the superbowl. Martin and Smith had there hall of fame careers wasted. Same with Witten and Ware

Jerry with the enormous help from Will McClay has been able to get some talent on this team....but the other part of being a GM is to get the heck out of the way and let the coaches do their job and cultivate that talent and form a cohesive and united team. This is where he absolutely fails and keeps failing as his meddling continues and wanting to be the spokesperson for everything from who plays that week, who is injured, how they're playing and all things he should stay out of and let coaches and the doctors decide what goes on. He does the hiring, but has no idea how to interview or what to look for in a suitable coach. It seems more to be who will bow down and kiss his ring, and do what he says and allow him to be the focal point of the team. That is where this man has failed miserably and will continue to fail along with his unqualified offspring. History shows the results, you don't have to take my word for it.

Five teams with the longest Conference Championship Game appearance droughts.

Washington Football team-30 Years
Detroit Lions-30 Years
Cleveland Browns-29 Years
Miami Dolphins-29 Years
Dallas Cowboys-26 Years

Cowboys Playoff Record since '96, 4-11

This is an ugly list. We are a part of it. The big difference is 4 of the five teams went through multiple GMs and front offices to at least make an attempt to get it right. Are the Dallas Cowboys really committed to improving or are we trying to be #1 in this category too?

Since our last SB run in the 1995 season, Jerry has hired 6 different head coaches, 7 different offensive coordinators, 8 different defensive coordinators, over 70 different assistant coaches, and somehow none of the people he’s hired have been able to take this team where 27 other NFL teams have been- at least to a conference championship. He thought Jason Garrett was worth keeping as a HC for a decade. That alone is an embarrassing indictment of his hiring abilities.

If Jerry had been the GM of any other NFL team, he would have been fired for lack of results several times over. Name an NFL team - even one- that given the chance would hire Jerry Jones as their GM. He’s a brilliant businessman who is certainly not a very good football man.

91 coaches who haven’t won jack, yet it only took 2 coaches to win multiple Super Bowls - Landry and Jimmy.

To the OP: Trying to silence the opinions of much of our membership isn't Jermayne to a free exchange of opinions. It's a faulty idea. :omg:

They were lucky to have Micah Parsons fall to them. Otherwise they would have picked Surtain or Horn.

Jake had the great John Fox as his HC. Fox coached the Panthers to SB XXXVII & the Broncos to SB XLVII. That's a statement in itself.

Again, it's who the HC is. Look at the 49ers. Jimmy G is an ugly average quarterback. But Shanahan is a very talented HC. After the 49ers hired him, he took the 49ers to a Superbowl in only his second year w/the franchise.

Who hires the Coach? How many times over the past 1/4 century has the Head Coaching decision in Dallas been a failure? Has Jerry done his job well as GM or has he listened to the right people some of the time and hit on some draft picks?

One of my complaints about Jerry is that the Cowboys never bring in fresh talent to challenge the "Stars" It just makes the team lazy and complacent. It also reduced the talent depth of the team.

If Jerry simply found it within himself to hire a competent GM, most of his troubles could have been resolved long ago. His over-inflated ego just wouldn't accept that fact any more than he's been able to manage the Cowboys on a football level. It took Will McClay's talent evaluation expertise to tend to that. Let's also recall how Jerry had to be outvoted by others to settle for Zack Martin over Johnny Manziel. These Cowboys march on a slippery slope.

I think it's possible that Will McClay could do even more with the GM title and the authority to take it to a higher level. Unfortunately, the specter of what might have been will long linger out of reach for the Dallas Cowboys. It's an ongoing curse that might well linger as long as Jerry draws breath. There's no telling if things under Stephen's authority might eventually get any better. And so, it goes with the Joneses. In the meantime, be "entertained."
