Stop trying to convince realists the defense is fine

It's not!...Is it better than last year? Probably. But we are an average defense that has looked good because our offense has been top notch. We are a team that is built to stop the run...that was how Parcells and most old school coaches think. Heck Troy Aikman even said the other day "I cringe when I hear coaches say we have to stop the run and run the football" But that is not true of the better teams in the NFL. Favre, Manning, and Brady will light you up if you cannot stop the pass. That should be where our concerns lie. Stop looking at how we perform against teams that will not be playing in January....those 3 teams should be our concern if we our THINKING Super Bowl.

It is ok to be happy with a win....but every fan who voices concern about the defense has a legitimate gripe if you ask me. Fans like me will not be the least bit surprised when if our season ends because of the defense....I guess the rest of you will complain AFTER it happens. But when we get in a single elimination tournament, there will not be any opportunities to "correct it next week"

We are big and slow for the most part on defense...that will need to be corrected this offseason. More speed in the secondary and at interior LBer is needed.

Show me the realists who has significant complaints about this team in any aspect of the game, and you have my word, I won't try to convince him of anything, ok?

I make no such promise for butt-hurt whiners, though, and that's pretty much I'll I've seen posting so far today.

I am a realist....and I watch a LOT of football...and their are plenty of teams that don't let the opposition have career days every week. Sometimes I think our defense plays like some fans think..."just get the win" How about playing to DOMINATE someone? That NEEDS to be our mindset if we want to be Super Bowl champs. We concede too much on a weekly basis in my opinion. The Skins game should NOT have been close...they way we started out against Green Bay should have produced a drubbing...

Speed cannot be found with 3 games to go...but this offseason we MUST get more speed on defense

Was this another one of those "career days" opposing quarterbacks have had when they're actually below their season average?

QB doesn't need stats when the RB runs over the entire defense. The defense as a whole was AWFUL. Special teams saved us (starting field position, missed chip shot FG), along with Romo, Witten and Barber.

I'm tempted just to start asking people to go cheer for another team we're 12-1 and still all i see is whining :bang2:

We are 12-1, but a team with a very good defense and a solid offense will give us a lot of trouble. Seattle comes to mind. Seattle can hold us to 20-29 points, and i can see them scoring 20-29 points on our D. Minnesota has a good D, and has a improving QB in Jackson. Tampa is also a team that could give us trouble. Now I'm not saying they will beat us, but we are by no means dominate over those teams.

Just stating what i see, mean no harm:)

We all enjoy seeing the Boys at 12-1. Hell, I almost lose my voice every week during the game. My kids run around like maniacs cheering for the team (saying GOOOOO Cowboys! YEAHHHHH!), despite me being 1 of only 2 Cowboy fans in my family. My wife's family is all Ravens fans.... We just see things that must improve quickly if we want to make it far.

So which running back was it that had a "career day," Jones or Duckett?

I guess I didn't realize that a "career day" now means putting up respectable numbers that aren't even among the 10 best games in your short career.

And which other running backs have had "career days" against us at any time this season, let alone "every week"?

The goal is to win the Super Bowl. The fact is, the defences need to improve going into the playoffs. It can be done with the current personal we have on the team. With this cowboys offense, the defence just needs to stop the opposition from scoring TD's and keeping them into field goals.

There is no way in Hell any team in the league can stop the Cowboys offence. Period. The only way to stop the Cowboys offence is the Cowboys themself.

I didn't say any running back had a "career day". I said:

Now you want to argue that we played good run defense? Not even touching that one..........

152 yards rushing combined.
10 rushing 1st downs.
Time of possession
3 rushing td's

.............

Don't sell the Seahawks, Vikings, or Bucs D short now. Detroit held us to 28, NE held our O to 20, Minnesota held our O to 17. We can get better don't be fooled by that.

Our defense is No. 8 in the NFL in fewest TDs allowed per possession.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, but our defense does not play dominatingly when we play most teams for the first time, now there have been exceptions, ie the Jets, but for the most part our rookie, and let me repeat that for those who are to busy whinning to have gotten it, our rookie defensive coordinator has yet to be caught off guard the second time around.......
So for a first year coordinator and a first year defensive scheme to both be implemented there is gonna be a learning curve, and offenses are gonna be able to catch them somewhat off guard with a few change up pitches, but you don't want to make the mistake of trying the same thing on him twice, because he is making corrections as he goes, and will embarrass you if you do, thus some of the scores we have produced after making half time adjustments...........
I am aware that Phillips is not a first year coordinator, but he is in his first year as a Dallas head coach, with all that entails so he must depend vastly on his first year coordinator, who with a 12-1 record doesn't seem to be doing to bad..........................
I personally hope that other teams coming up both in the regular season and the playoffs think as some of you do and see this as a blue print for beating the Cowboys, oh darn I mean almost beating the Cowboys ( see the difference), and give both our rookie coordinator and his first year defensive scheme a second shot at that game plan, it will be the easiest road to the Superbowl IMHO that this franchise has ever had.......................

what you said is exactly what I am talking about. How you could watch that game and walk away thinking that was a "respectable" defense performance is just laughable. This is a team with Super Bowl hopes right? What did the Pack, Colts and Pats do yesterday? They treated the opposition like gum on the bottom of their shoe. This is what I mean by fans trying to convicnce those of us that see the game and can critique it fairly wheter we win or lose. Were the Detroit Lions the worst running team in the NFL....were the Detroit Lions the worst pass protecting team in the NFL? If you did not know that before the game WOULD watching that game leave you thinking "Detroit cannot pass protect or run the football"

I mean am I making this stuff up...did I watch a different game than some of you? Was this the same team that lost to the Commanders by 30...or to the Eagles by 40+?

:hammer: Are our players doing the right things? Missed tackles alone are killing these guys.

You're right!

The Cowboys are the worst team in the NFL...

They should lose the rest of their games to try and get a better draft pick!
