They won't change this rule unless and until a team can use it to gain a 1st down every three plays. At that point it will be an unstoppable slow grind offense that is the opposite of what the league wants for TV, and will quickly spread as the NFL is a copycat league.

Take ur shot and blast the QB..when he gets hurt they will stop
That is a good plan for RPO to just have the read man blast the QB. Unfortunately, refs still will call roughing anyway.

On the dive it is hard to line up a shot when the entire front is literally diving into your front and the QB is trying to wiggle in behind them. You do see LB and S jumping the pile to get at the QB but its tough sledding.

Not if it's a legal hit and he is running. Different rules.

Sure and if you are waiting that long then your strategy is blown. The forest in this case is the free shot on the QB while the play action is going on so the QB gets hit no matter what each time.

He is going to get hit everytime he is the ball carrier unless he goes out of bounds or scores. That is your tree.

Don't know if draft addition Smith and the re-signing of Hankins could have stopped the one Eagles drive in Philly after we had cut their lead to 19-17.
It was the one drive and run defensive lapse that was a pivotal turning point of the season to me.
It wasn't all gashing inside. Lawrence got his fair share of abuse with Hurts's RPO stuff on the edges as well.

But it's strange because other than this one series, the run defense was better than its final reg. season ranking imo.

Especially in the playoffs. The run defense was lights out and absolutely played well enough to win the SF game.

I don't understand your response.

We're discussing stopping the QB sneak. He's already running.

The best way to put the “tush push” on ice is to force a 3rd and 6 or 4th and 3. If you’re in a 3rd and 1, chances are slim already.
