Well, when your owner says Cassel should get a chance to start before your head coach announces it, what would that lead one to think?
Look, I'm not going to lie. I had high hopes for Garrett, and I do like the direction the franchise is headed in terms of its emphasis on the draft and building the trenches.
But I have this overarching feeling that Jerry was simply searching for a coach who could let him be him and one who simply was happy to coach the Cowboys. I also think he was looking for his "Tom Landry," a coach he could trust and one he could grow into a great coach.
He found that coach in Garrett. And this may disappoint the "Fire Garrett" crowd, but he's here to stay. He's the Marvin Lewis of Dallas. He works well with Jerry and as long as he doesn't, basically, hit on the owner's wife, he's probably looking at a long tenure as the Cowboys coach.
I have not been impressed with him this year nor his coaching decisions or his ability to coach us to one win during Romo's absence. But this was a Super Bowl or bust season, really. And we aren't nearly as healthy as we thought we would be. So ...
I'm willing to write this season off (I'll leave a sliver of hope seeing how bad the NFC East is) with the knowledge that Dallas will get a few more draft picks and, with health, contend for a Super Bowl in 2017.
But I'm not even going to consider Garrett getting canned because it's not going to happen any time soon.

The problem is he is no Marvin Lewis. Lewis can coach. Lewis might be one and done, but he is on his way to 6 playoff appearances in the last 7 years in a really good division.
I agree, JG is here to stay. But we need a new offense IMO. Not a knock on Linny either. But we need a nore innovative offense that can showcase our talents, and adjust to what they do best!
That's why Campo was hired and why he couldn't wait till Parcells stepped down...and then hired another buddy (Wade) so he could control the "jocks to socks" as he once famously said. Garrett is just an extension of that mind set. I agree with you, unless this team totally implodes, like it did with Wade, I see Garrett being here for a long, long time. But like Marvin Lewis we may not see a legitimate contender for a long time either, im still waiting for this seasons version of the Bengals to implode.Well, when your owner says Cassel should get a chance to start before your head coach announces it, what would that lead one to think?

I agree. I wonder what Romo would have done in a WCO.

What decision does he think needs to be made? Our starting quarterback is nursing a broken collarbone, the defense is playing lights out since ATL, and our star receiver just returned to the lineup after three practices in full with a fresh backup QB.
Puzzling narrative.
Co-busted the OP.
