we need more than just a servicable RT to fix the problem on the OL. 3 years ago we'd have traded flo for a box of twinkies. then last year he gets hurt and the line falls apart? i don't buy flo being THAT good more than i see a handy excuse for a pathetic line.

Buy it or not, there's production evidence to support it.

i agree the players and positions we need/want are still there for the most part but if we don't "spend top$" to get a top OL in here, then how can we realistically expect the line to perform much better than it did last year.

you know, when it sucked.

Throwing money at an Oline, does not make it good. Our players need time, not replacing every year. There is no dominant Oline in the league with much under 3 years playing together as a unit. Go ahead, check on it. Continuity, baby. Talent could use some upgrading, but I think having an entirely new right side last year hurt just as bad as inexperience and lack of talent.

you're still not getting it

**the 1st few days of free agency is where teams usually shell out big contracts** but look at the RTs available on the market, none of them are worth a big contract, in fact, many free agent prognostics said that the Oline crop in free agency was extremely weak, and many would tend to be overpayed, well...we're not biting

the same thing goes for our other needs, although I feel we should be paying top-dollar on a kicker

so here is what I"m trying to relate to you;

1st few days of free agency, teams throw big contracts around, no position of need for us deserves a big contract other than K, but even then, Jerry said we wouldn't be paying alot for a K

sure there is, which is why it was used to point to the "reason". the "reason" is our OL sucks and there isn't much hiding that.

as for continuity, great. i'd love to see it and I AGREE 100% it's needed. but when you've got a coach who's on his last year or two using his favorite security blanket who's on his last year or two, we simply don't have time for the OL to "gel" AND still make their own timelines.

if your argument is that the line will be better with another year i can agree - to a point. but *this* line i think can only get *so* good regardless of the "gel" factor. if flo gets hurt again do we once again wipe out the season? that's about what we did or at least where we lay the blame.

so i agree with a lot of what you're saying, but i still think adding a marquee OL was necessary at this point more than the "gel factor".

other than longwell and bentley, no FA has been signed we were targeting anyway and bentley was more a fan dream than anything.

Exactly, the only ones I wanted that are gone are Longwell and Kemoeatu. I certainly didn't want El- check the posts- I was hoping Wash would get suckered by him.

As typical with this forum, just because people are upset with no free agent signings they are automatically "chicken littles" ,"dumb" ,"have no idea" blah blah blah. Nothing but the same redundant garbage you can read here all year long.

Just to give some credibility to those of us who are concerned about lack of activity (all I ask for is some interest......JUST A FEW VISITS WITH DECENT FA'S for crying out loud!).......here's the quote STRAIGHT from the dc website before free agency:
"We've been ready to go four different times," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said at the DFW Grand Hyatt Wednesday night after the league, by a 30-2 vote, approved the CBA extension and very creative revenue-sharing plan. "Now it's time to get after these free agents. We got this thing done and we know how much (money to spend). It's time to go to work." "You've just got to be prepared," Stephen Jones said. "And I know we are."

Still waiting......
And just for the record there are still good free agents out there. But as per the quotes straight from Stephen Jones (executive vice president) seems to be just alot of bark and no bite.

Hmmmm... I've read through that quote from Stephen Jones a couple of times, and no where does it say anything about throwing money at big name free agents the second the opportunity becomes available. Maybe he was speaking in code?

i don't really care about ANY FA wr right now. key and glenn can still get it done but if we could add a javon walker THEN i think we're making valid moves to improve long term.

TO would be a short term solution IF he's even a solution in the end. but again, if we don't make a legitimate attempt to fix the line then worrying about the rest of the team is pointless cause drew will once again be running for his life.

Nothing personal, I have patience as long as there are a few good fa's left. I have considered they're waiting until getting TO to start signing other guys. I just hope the lack of scheduled visits doesn't leave us as bottom feeders while everybody else signs the cream of the crop.;)

Here's the kicker.......there were only a few good FA's to begin with.
Ever see the sign that reads.............

Free parking, Five dollars.
