Y if it's working?

I have a strong sense of smell and can't stand smelling shaving cream all day and electric razors suck (for me).

I've never tried a straight razor with blades tho, are they a really fast shave or what's the benefit over what I'm doing now?

I was being facetious, do what works for you, but I will add this...

I think you would find a safety razor with Feather blades and shave soap and brush (wet shave) a 1 minute process. I shave in the shower as well and I am done in less than a minute... baby arse smooth... and I have a VERY thick, tough beard (I can grow a beard in about a week)...

One minute?! That's worth it, takes me 10-15 mins, guess I'll have to give it a try?

Literally one minute... of course you'll have to perfect your technique, but a safety razor doesn't have to be done a second time... they are that sharp (Feather blades)...

Yes... anything Merker/Feather is a good mix...

The soap is good, the brush is more important... get a good badger brush... $50 will last almost a lifetime...

The shaving soaps at Wal-Mart are surprisingly good...

As I said... tailor the razor to your face...

Nothing to be scared of... you will be SHOCKED at how sharp the Feather blades are... it's a one-pass system when you learn...

A quality Merker will run you about $50... it will last you the rest of your life... Feather blades are SO much cheaper than Gillette 4 bangers (3 bucks a pop as opposed to about 20 cents)...

I'll send you an old Merker and some Feathers if you want to try it out... brush and soap are on you...

Once I go back to shaving my entire face, I think I will try a Merkur.

I should probably look into one just for the cleanup I use now. Not having to buy the blades for the Fusion would probably pay for it in a year. (sooner if I shaved my entire face)

Tried the Feather Platinum... SCARY sharp... but I like them...

Don't order these if you haven't used a double-edged razor in the past... train your face...

Just go to Wal-Mart... they have it...

I got my initial cup and brush but the next time i needed soap they didn't have any ,now they don't have gillette stainless steel blades so I bought some German blades to try. I ended up using a half bar of Irish Spring soap,it lathers good and seemed to last longer than the original stuff.

It don't get any closer than this.

Right. What's really exciting about this model is that the replacement blades only cost about 200 bucks for a two pack!

It's crazy how expensive razors have gotten.

I started using a safety razor last year, and while I still keep an electric for when I'm in a rush, I was surprised by how easy the safety is.

The trick, as mentioned, is to not try and get everything in one go. I know someone mentioned the whole "one pass" thing, but trying to do it in one pass is a great way to cut yourself unless you're a pro.

I bought a 50 pack of the Feather blades. That's .03 per blade in bulk. A new blade every week for the price of 2 Gillette blades...

When they dull try running those Mach 3 blades backwards along your forearm a few times. You are essentially stropping them and it does increase the life. I was surprised at just how much.

The best way to preserve the life of blades is to dry and coat them. Most of the dullness of blades is not by shaving it's a result of oxidation. Its the water sitting on the blades between shaves and the corrosion will cause the metal to flake making the blades either blunt or jagged. You can use a towel to pat the blades dry or use a blow dryer. Oxygen in the air and the salt from your skin can also cause the quick demise of a razor blade so coating the blades with either a cooking spray, mineral/baby oil or keeping the blades soaked in barbicide will help preserve them.

Never tried a safety razor, but I started using a brush and soap about a year ago, and now can't believe I ever used that garbage out of a can.

I have sensitive skin that nicks easily, so I've tried about every combination of shaving cream and razor imaginable, and there's no doubt that the brush and soap make any razor you use much better. And it doesn't even cost any more than canned cream or gel... In fact, it's probably quite a bit cheaper. A puck of soap from Wally World is under $1.50 and lasts for at least a couple of months.

If you haven't tried it yet, guys, try it!

If you have sensitive skin that nicks easily try an electric shaver. Hands down the best one on the market is the 5 blade Panasonic. I use it and it beats any electric shaver on the market (I've tried them all) including the Braun Series 7. It comes down to shaving technique and preparing your beard to get the best shave with an electric. One thing that makes the Panasonic so effective is the powerful motor and the fact you can use it wet in the shower. A wet shave is always going to be closer and more comfortable than a dry shave with an electric. I shave in a sauna and the steam softens the beard and the use of a gel lubricant makes for an effortless shave.

Even as good as this Panasonic shaver is there may be a few slight nubby areas that no electric will completely remove depending on the contours of your face so I just take a proglide razor and lightly go over these areas it takes no more than 20 seconds. My total shave time is about 2 minutes and the shave is so smooth is feels like it's below the skin line. The one draw back with the top of the line 5 blade Panasonic shaver is the price which is about $500 and you may have to order it online because most stores carry the cheaper Panasonic models. The cheaper models don't have as many blades therefore they don't shave as fast.
