Seattle has a need at offensive guard. They have depth at the position, DE. And a Collin for Michael Bennett trade would negate the need to tack on a draft pick as well. Both teams would benefit...and leave the door open to also pick up the likes of Freeney. That would be a coup set of moves from the start...and allow for intense competition, flexability, and youth develop at the same time.

A transition would be in place also...

Sorry but not big fan of Bennett. Would want something better if I was trading Collinns. Don't know who, just my opinion.

No need to apologize...this site is for actual discussion. Your opinion is as good as the next...

When was the last time a good young player, with legitimate chance to be elite, was traded while on a rookie deal?

The player we would net from Leary would have to be Robert Quinn or better and around that 25/26 yr old range.

Just my opnion.

Pray tell, at this point, what would be smart?

Do we really need to debate whether or not trading away one of the better acquisitions the team has had over the past 4-5 years is actually a bad idea? The team pissed away their chance at addressing the DL by drafting guys who can't get on the field. That was mistake #1. Trading away Collins in an attempt to whitewash that mess is just a horrible idea and it would only serve to magnify that mistake in addition to being an equally as big of a mistake in itself.

You can't possibly build a team by taking risks and missing, and then trading away your good decisions to try and compensate for that risk taking. The team wouldn't get equal value that's for damn sure. Find me any team that's itching to get rid of a good pass rusher right now.

What's the "smart move"? Depends on who you ask, I guess, but trading Collins damn sure ain't it. If you ask me, the "smart move" would be to draft players who can actually line up.

Collins has a lot of work to do but is only 23 and appears to be headed to a few All Pro teams - at least he will be in the discussion. There's no way you let him out of your building now and at such a low salary. Certainly not for a 30 yr old DE who even at his best averages 9 sacks on a loaded pressure defense. Good grief.
He the 4th best OL on our team, and thats his value as well---4th best lineman, 2nd best guard. He's good, but he's not all that yet.

I see them, but that would have made the upgrade so much more worth it if I didn't

I don't. If this doesn't get rectified I'll manually add it to each of my posts.

Reality's a good dude but this is some BS.

Backup guard Ronald Leary has made it perfectly clear he is not interested in being in that role. The 2012 UDFA signing with 35 starts under his belt wants to be traded to a team where he could get more snaps. However, there might be another solution that would satisfy Leary’s needs. Could the Dallas Cowboys possibly trade 2015 UDFA find and fellow guard La’el Collins for a pass rusher instead of Leary?

“There is a possibility of a trade that might involve one of the Cowboys’ young pieces. The player to keep an eye on could be second-year guard La’el Collins.” – Yahoo Sports

Trading Collins might sound like a crazy idea at first. The first-round talent, has shown flashes of being a pro-bowl caliber player at left guard for years to come. In addition, the potential for Collins to play right tackle once Doug Free leaves is also intriguing. Leary is the one who wants out, but trading him might not net much in return.

A solid pass rusher in return, something Dallas needs desperately with the suspensions involving DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory, in exchange for a downgrade from Collins to Leary is worth consideration. Leary is still young and capable despite his degenerative knee condition.

This could also be a way to get around having to pay a completely All Pro offensive line, top dollar. Making signing Frederick a stronger target for now.
this is one of the dumbest things ive heard this offseason in requards to this team. Trade a guy who wouldve been a top 10 pick if not for that bogus story before the draft because a unhappy backup and a DE? this is whats wrong with journalism today, instead of reporting stories they try to make them, There are very few journalists in media today but a whole lot of glorified bloggers. this is why when it comes to the cowboys id rather listen to the people around VR on the Cowboys website than read garbage like this.

Nobody is talking about Collins contract. He works for peanuts. They arent trading him. Follow the money.
