A new Head Coach??? But seriously, we need another CB (Newman is often hurt, Adam Jones can't be counted upon), We need a better backup QB than Brad Johnson, perhaps someone young and mobile.

LT, SS, Gaurd, ILB, LB what else we need?

RB and TE are the only positions on this team that don't need to be looked at strongly. Backup QB is obviously an issue, unless the team actually feels Bollinger can play. Safety has been a sore spot on this team since Woody retired. Watkins had/has promise, but never seems to take the next step. Hamlin moving to SS might be a viable option, allowing us to get a true rangy player back there. It looks like the Courtney Brown experiment may be a disappointment. I don't think he's much of a tackler. O-line is always addressed, although it seems we have had 30 guys try out for line positions in the last two years....we can't seem to get the right guy. You can never have enough pass rushers and corners.

...but even more than the safety position, the area that needs to be addressed the most is ILB. We need more speed at linebacker. Badly. Imagine a 'Patrick Willis' type player playing inside with Ware and Spencer outside.

What about Anthony Henry FS & Ken Hamlin SS. Draft a CB for depth.

Anthony Henry is not a solution at safety. If he's put in a safety role, I'd hope that it would be in a stop-gap situation at best. I could see him back there this year, as we're bleeding badly back there, but the safety position needs to filled with speed and youth...not old age and bad knees.

For serious. We rarely ever have dynamic plays coming from our ILBs, and this has been an issue since we moved to the 3-4. I'm talking no INTS, stops in the backfields, pressure on qbs, any of that. Zach has made a couple, Bradie hasn't even sniffed a play in the backfield. But he will definitely let you know when he makes a tackle 6 yards down the field.

I really wish Burnett could stay healthy because I think he can really provide that big play ability

yes we really need to find that Urlacher, Ray Lewis or Willis type of ILB to go with Ware and Spencer

F.Y.I. Anthony Henry did play at Safety at times this year and he looked terrible.

Why not Abraham Elam? He's a good tackler, a good cover guy, and has lots of potential. He's a sleeper. Really don't know why Cowboys cut him or Evan Olgesby.

I think Kerry Rhodes and Dwan Landry will be aval. ( if not franchised)

If Rhodes is available I'd be all over that. I just don't see how New York will let him walk, their secondary is their weak area as is.

Edit - Looks like he won't be available.

On April 9, 2008 Kerry signed an extension with the Jets for 5 years worth similar to the five-year, $37.5 million contract that Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders signed in December. Rhodes deal is worth for $33.5 million, with $20 million guaranteed. [1]

that is what I would like to see. The rookies and Newman would have to step up.

Why does everyone want a rangy, speedy safety and then offer up henry as a solution im not sure those fit together

Mike Brown (injury history) and Brian Dawkins (age) will be available. They are short-term solutions but I can see Jerry making moves like that, trying to get us in a Superbowl sooner than later.

I would love to see the look on Eagles fan's face if Brian Dawkins was to don the Silver and Blue.

I think Hamlin is a natural strong safety so he should eventually move there. Henry could work out at free safety but that's yet to be proven.

Some top safety draft prospects are:
Taylor Mays USC
William Moore Missouri
Myron Rolle Florida State
Derek Pegues Mississippi State
Michael Hamlin Clemson
Kam Chancellor Virginia Tech
Kevin Ellison USC
Courtney Greene Rutgers
Curtis Taylor LSU
Patrick Chung Oregon
Nic Harris Oklahoma
Josh Pinkard USC

Pinkard could be a sleeper. He's had tow nasty injuries and is actually a 6th year Senior. He has started at both safery spots and is playing corner this year for USC. He runs in the 4.4 range so he can cover deep. He even has a DUI this year so he will fit in with the team. :banghead: . Anyway, if he shows he is healthy and has made amends for the DUI he might be worth a late round pick.
