I think the great news comment was a bit much, but would you really be upset if he missed the game? It's not like were talking about possible knee damage here.

Some did, some probably didn't. That's the way it goes with the world.

But, let's say we make the super bowl and play the colts. In a strange twist of fate, a bunch of ecoli or something gets in their water a day before the game, and all the colt's players get sick. So, the colt's cheerleaders have to suit up instead and we of course beat them 100 gazillion to el-zippo. Would this be an awesome win for us?

I don't think so.

I've always believed that to be the best, you have to beat the best.

Who cares a win is a win. Would you rather beat the manning less colts or lose to the manning lead colts? Wishing for a player to get hurt, or hoping that they never recover is being an A-hole, but hoping that a player who sustains a minor injury misses a game in less than a week is nothing.

I don't believe Stroud is injured.

No news of it anywhere.

Big Ben heads short injury list

One of the beauties of the first game of the regular season is that the injury reports are pretty clean. Only 68 players didn't practice Wednesday, which isn't bad for 32 teams. Defensive tackle Marcus Stroud's rolled ankle injury toward the end of Jaguars practice isn't included because it happened after the injury report went to the league. His status will be updated Thursday. Only 16 players officially have been ruled out, a list that is headed by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of the Steelers. Roethlisberger, Titans tight end Erron Kinney, Browns cornerback Daylon McCutcheon, Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens, Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby and right tackle Oliver Ross are the only starters ruled out, although don't expect Falcons linebacker Ed Hartwell and Commanders cornerback Shawn Springs to play.

Yep and 100% correct. these people that boo hoo an injury by another team are more full of **** than 3 used car salesmen at a nudey bar. I hope every team we play has 15 broken limbs a week. Better yet, i hope the Skins plane goes down in the Potomac in december.

Then don't discount the Commanders' superbowl trophies just because they got them against scabs in strike-shortened seasons.

Well, I would say hoping some player dies might be a tad extreme.

Otherwise, I agree, this boo hooing about a player's injury and treating it as though it's some incredible tragedy is a bunch of nonsense.

Everybody gets a twinge of happiness upon hearing that Player X broke his leg and won't face our team. Then they feel guilty and post some silly "my prayers go out to player X and his family!" nonsense.

And it's no tragedy when a player wrecks a knee. It just makes it harder to screw the models poolside at his mansion.

A tragedy is some kid getting cancer.

Pete tests injured knee

Marcus Stroud wouldn't practice and was added to the Jaguars' injury report as “questionable” for Sunday's game with an ankle sprain. Meanwhile, Mike Peterson hoped his chances of playing could be upgraded following Thursday afternoon's practice.

“Right now, it's pretty good. I haven't practiced, yet, but right now it feels pretty good,” Peterson said of his sprained knee, which has kept him out of action since sustaining the injury in the Aug. 26 preseason game against Tampa Bay.

Peterson planned to practice on Thursday afternoon and then re-evaluate his status for Sunday's season-opener against the visiting Dallas Cowboys. The Jaguars middle linebacker's availability becomes especially important following Stroud's injury on Wednesday.

Stroud, the Jaguars' Pro-Bowl defensive tackle, sustained a sprained ankle near the end of Wednesday's practice. Rob Meier would be Stroud's likely replacement at tackle.

Daryl Smith would be the likely replacement for Peterson should he be unable to play on Sunday, but Peterson continues to hold out hope he can play, which would move Smith back to outside linebacker, strengthening both positions.

“I'm not rushing it. I said when I got injured I'd see how it feels. I'll be able to tell after or during practice how I feel,” Peterson said.

Peterson described his injury as a grade two sprain of the medial collateral ligament. Recovery time is normally 2-4 weeks, which would put Peterson inside the recovery period.

“I have to take care of my body. It's a long season. I don't want it to bite me in week 14. I've had this injury before,” he said.

Peterson is considered to be one of the Jaguars' top performers and the team's emotional leader.

“It's real critical to start fast,” he said of winning the opener. “Expectations are real high. We set them in the offseason. They're very high.
