All comes down to how we arrive at those records and how much Romo would have affected the outcomes. And when those losses come. What if Dak is 3-4 but got there by winning the last 3 in a row?
Some will say Booger will play him because he's paying him all that money. He's paying him all that money regardless and paid Owens 9M not to play. The money isn't as big a part of it as some make it out to be for Booger. And the loyalty thing is overblown, he lied about Aikman retiring.
The mere fact that this is Romo we're talking about, the single most polarizing player in the history of the NFL, unless Dak really stinks it up, there is going to be a QB controversy,
I think you're overstating and understating two things.
I don't believe Romo is as polarizing now as he used to be. The longer he's played the more respect he's garnered around the league and the media. From his commercials to his appearances on national shows, people know him now, much more than when he broke in. I also believe being married and having kids as softened people, even opposing fans. I'm on other team's boards all the time checking in and the predominant theme is, "Yeah, I hate Romo, cause he beats us, but he can ball."
If there's a line Tony is right there with the rest of the Cowboy QB's probably ahead of Troy and eventually, Dak will joining them, it's the nature of the business with the Cowboys.
Just this week on Igglesphans a guy wrote
I like Dak's game and now and forever I have to say **** Dak!.
I mean you have to go to Ray Rice, Ray Lewis, Mike Vick, Greg Hardy, Johnny Manziel, Tim Tebow, Terrell Ownens, to name a few and if you wanted to go back, there's a lot more.
Secondly, I thnk you're really underestimating Jerry's love of Romo. Romo is not Troy in Jerry's eyes. Troy was Landry and Tex and Jimmy, etc. Tony gave Jerry a lot of sway when he hit for him as an undrafted free agent and it was during a time when Jerry wanted the world to know he was the man. Remember, Jerry drafted Quincy. Jerry's got a huge mural of Tony in his office and he looks upon him as another son. I have worked projects with a billionaire out of Dallas who is close with both Jerry and Tony and he tells me all the time how much Jerry loves Tony Romo.
But at the end of the day, I agree with you. If Dak lights it up, well, that's football. It's just the way it is. If Dak struggles, then Tony's still the man until the next hit. I also think you made a good point about how it happens. The three-game losing streak is gonna be a lot different than a three-game winning streak.
