Sturm - 13 personnel has to go

We ran almost every first down in the second half. The Giants run blitzed the gaps and the ends stayed outside. It's easy to defend a predictable pattern. Not once first down play action, not one quick hitting out, nothing.

Sometimes it feels like our scheme is purposely designed to prove our players are simply better and we don't need to "fool" you.

Why can the Pats get by without Gronk? Anyone can run open behind a pick. And the Pats believe in taking advantage of every rule, and even pushing rules to the edge. They have zero interest in proving they can line up and beat you with talent.

Good post!!

This is nothing new. This has always been a problem with the Lineman / Garrett offense. Its just that they had an experienced (and arguably elite) QB covering for them.

The stellar run game and a soft schedule, and some creative play calling before the tape was out on Prescott, got them to 11-1. Now the league has the tape, the opponents are tougher, and you get basically what we had all last season.

My biggest fear at this point isn't that they will squander the season (that cake is baked IMO), its that they will do long-term damage to Dak's development. There is a danger throwing a Rookie to the wolves. And I don't like the reports that Dak was "shell-shocked" after the Giants game.

Yea we'll see about that on Sunday.

Great commentary on that pick.... The giants also ran their version....

@Greenbay, @ Pittsburgh soft?

Add Minnesota in... To me, better to get this type of rough stuff out of the way before the playoffs. Will be watching very closely how we adjust to Tampa. Also Philly has not been kind to us with their D, so these 3 games are not gimmies in any aspect and hopefully
will prove to be the " battle test" we need to make a run...

Follow him on twitter. He's breaking some stuff down.

Look at this...you don't think our opponents have caught onto this trend?

PREDICTABLE !! LOL no wonder he cant get open.
other things we do are predictable as well.

is 13 P also called the jumbo with no wr's?

I also wonder why we cant throw to elliot more?

Thanks for the link. That was enlightening. Dig your sig, too.

I think every rookie has that WTH just happened moment.

A little adage shared with me in my upbringing...It's not what happens, it's how you respond.

I credit the Giants for excellent preparation and execution. As lost as Dak looked on the field, it is only natural he'd be shell-shocked. Dak will grow from this, and he will bounce back very soon.

Bingo. Every time Dez was in the slot right he would drag and Dak would throw behind him.

We went back to the old Tecmo Bowl four play playbook.

It's easy to shut down what you know is coming.

Butler runs the same two routes Alvin Harper did. Slant and a go.

This confirms my immediate thought watching the game.

The coaches are getting lazy again. Thinking they can just run basic sets and players will out execute the other team.

This is 100% on coaching. They're getting lazy and unimaginative
