Just to give you guys an idea of how far away this defense is from being decent. Jenkins is a practice squad talent on the Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos team, and here he makes the 53 man roster. No need to get angry. This is just a fact. No need to get excited over thinking we found something. We didn't.

These are always fun to see, you can really tell who to ignore in the future when you see stuff like this.

Denver runs a 3-4 defense. Wade typically uses a lot of looks, but the ends in 3-4 defenses are different builds than 4-3 guys, mainly because of how often they're asked to 2 gap, and because they're going to get doubled quite a bit.

Jenkins at 6'3 and 275 is a man without a position in a 3-4 defense. Look at 3-4 ends, they're usually 6'4+, long armed, and 285+. In a year or two he might be an adequate 3-4 end, but he doesn't fit the mold and he definitely wasn't going to contribute much in that role this year.

Which is why they cut him. His athleticism is basically worthless at 3-4 end.

Luckily we run mostly a 1 gap penetrating defense, which is the perfect fit for him. He can use his athleticism inside, and his height is actually an advantage with leverage.

4-3 ends also tend to follow a certain mold, but it's usually more forgiving than the 3-4 end position, because you have a 1tech, another end on, and a 3 shooting the gap in our defense.

I'm keeping him inside where he can use his athleticism to beat guards and centers with his first step, and in the amount of stunts and twists we like to run.

That's where he's going to excel.

But, if worse came to worse, I bet he could be serviceable at end if needed. You might have to get cute and crash down Thornton/McClain so Jenkins can twist, but you can use him.

He's probably better than Russell at end already anyway.
