Flores is a LOT like Belichick, and that's a good thing. A throwback, old-school hardass who can cook up some absolutely confounding defensive schemes.

With that being said, the Cowboys are the last time that he would go to. He lost his HC job in Miami, during a stint that was otherwise going well, in a political fight with the owner. Flores told him that Tua would never win a Super Bowl, Ross told Flores that Tua was The Guy and to make things work. Flores pulled the "him or me" card and got forced out.

Jerry plays favorites just like that, and there's no way Flores would deal with that again.
24-25 over 3 seasons is going well?

Flores was a tank commander in that first season. He got his team to play hard through their "Tank for Tua" and win 5 games, which is about 4 more than anyone expected. He followed that up with a 10-6 and a 9-8 campaign.

The Dolphins were building to a "poo or get off the pot" moment at that point, where they had assembled enough talent to compete but had missed the playoffs twice. And that's when the Flores vs Tua thing game to a head. But I would say the 3 years up to that exceeded expectations.

Imagine if Panthers HC Dave Canales wins 4 games this December, carries that momentum through and has a winning season in 2025, then Carolina has another winning season in 2026. That's the kind of turnaround that Flores engineered.

He didn’t engineer anything. He went 10-6 playing an incredibly weak schedule based on 5-11 the previous season. He followed up by going backwards.
