Great post sir! From a straight points per game standpoint you are correct. I dont think the defensive is a deprived of talent as some want to believe. However when you look at the old school bend but dont break scheme we were throwing out there week after week this team never took advantage of inferior competitions weaknesses. This defense allowed a lot of yards and a lot of time to come off the clock with that style of play. It's a big reason why the cowboys were among the worst in starting field position. And on top of that we rarely got turnovers, which is a something you would expect from a heavy zone scheme.
They could keep you in games, but that's about it. This defense didnt do much as far as actually helping the team win games.
That falls squarely on Coaching!the single greatest loss had to be against the eagles. a team composed of 2nd and 3rd string backups as well as some scrubs recently signed off the street.
Still trying to find some video clips on some of those terrible passes. Everyone like to do highlights but I need a lowlights for some reminders.
Dallas scored two total touchdowns in the first three quarters of those games.
Bob leaves that part out.
Yeah right, with a torn ligament in his throwing shoulder. Ignorant post.Obivously you were blind during the last Dec 22 Philly game.....just pick a quarter & watch
Obviously you were being you didn't notice Moore benching our two top WR's on the last & most important play of the season to snap the division crown on 4th & goal. Blame the obvious & not the hate on an individual player.Obivously you were blind during the last Dec 22 Philly game.....just pick a quarter & watch
Yeah right, with a torn ligament in his throwing shoulder. Ignorant post.
the players are equally to blame. That falls squarely on Coaching!

I love the usual, but the offense...in those low scoring games the defense gave up a lot of yards but not points. TOP limited chances for the offense. The defense did not get any turnovers. Missed FGs, blocked punts, big returns against, none for us. Special teams killed us. The offense was always starting drives 75 or more yards from the endzone.
Did the offense play great in those games? No but there were plenty of extra hurdles provided by the defense, STs, and coaching that played a huge role.
I admire Bob's effort and enthusiasm, but too often I find his conclusions to be dubious at best.Dallas scored two total touchdowns in the first three quarters of those games.

Please....save me the Garrett pity. Only thing that hasn't changed in the past 10 seasons was the coach.the players are equally to blame.
garrett pity???????????????I have screamed for year to fire that idiot along with Marinelli. poor throws by dak. dropped passes by receivers. poor blocking. this is the purview of the players, not just lousy coaching.Please....save me the Garrett pity. Only thing that hasn't changed in the past 10 seasons was the coach.
Players changed yet Garrett could never find the formula.... In Eagles game players were flat going against backups. That is Coaching. Doug Pederson schooled Garrett with practice squad players
Why not, you expect the offense to be perfect and drive 75-80 yards for TDs four or five times a game.So in games where the defense gave up 17, 13, and 12 points it was also their job to be perfect. Don't give up points or yards, and also setup the offense for points.
Total BS. The offense lost the NO, NE, and Philadelphia games plain and simple.
