Hind sight is 20/20.
The other guy a professional athlete too....probably even a better athlete than you.
Dak should have never thrown the ball. There was an open receiver in the middle of field, near the 30 yard-line.
Seems like Dak had made up his mind to throw to Gallup before the snap.

Disappointed in the cat, he also has regressed since that rookie season. That ball should have been caught. One of the few passes that was catchable.

There are 5 guys rushing the QB. So not an all out blitz. So I'm not buy what Sturm is saying at all.

Re-watch the play. The QB stared down Gallup. Because of that, Gallup is the most closely guarded WR on the field!

What he should have done is throw the ball to one of the wide open WR's just waiting for the ball.
Actually it's worse than that. Gallup wasn't the most closely guarded WR on the field because Dak stared him down.

He was the most closely guarded WR BEFORE the snap. And yet Dak still threw it.
 :banghead:

Hitches and 9 routes. Anything else to Gallup is asking for trouble. The guy can’t create separation to save his life.

Cooper expressed himself. You're not allowed to do that at that position anymore in Dallas.
Could he have copied Michael Irvin and just produced? And kept all respects also?

I have a question for the people saying it is a terrible read by Dak.

In what way was it a bad read? Presnap he has single coverage at the bottom of the screen where the blitz is coming from and if you look at the pressure he gets after releasing it what else is he supposed to do? You either throw that to Gallup and trust he makes a play or you get sacked.

Maybe it is time to see more of Tolbert.

6 guys are actually rushing the QB. Dak hit the hot route before the CB could get there (look at the top because he is coming). Throwing it to the 1-1 matchup is the right read. Didn’t matter because the game was over but Gallup’s sole job on that play is to win that.

He threw to the WR that was the most covered. With 4 choices, why do that especially when the other 3 were open???

That's your soon to be $50M+ QB decision making process at work.
You are assuming he has time to get through progressions when he is being blitzed. He threw it to his hot route and got hit right after he threw it.

Looked to me like Gallup was being held.

Another part of this that went wrong was Zack Martin misread the stunt and was too slow to correct his mistake, else Dak wouldn't have had to rush the throw. Nice job overpaying him for no reason, Jerry.

Sturm needs to teach Kurt Warner how to put together a video analysis without using his phone laying on the desk.

Come on, this one is stupid. A clear Anti-Gallup take.

I get the "You throw into the blitz" concept, but you also don't throw a quick ball to a guy who has a defender right in his face at the LOS.

Dak should have thrown to one of the receivers on the other side that DIDN'T have a defender 1 foot in front of him. Hell two of those guys didn't have a defender within 8 yards of them at the snap and could have been the hot read.

Terrible read by Dak, and even a worse decision.

That one is on Dak. No question.
This is entirely wrong lol. You have 0 clue.

He throws right behidn the blitzing linebacker where he knows he has 1-1 coverage. The WR has to win that route. There is no post-snap read on this play, because it's a 6-man pressure.

It is 100% the correct read, and 100% on the WR to cross face. It should be easy to win that route against man coverage like that. MG13 just can't separate at all.

Look at the top of the screen and let me know why the ball shouldn't have gone to one of the TWO receivers that didn't have a defender within 8 yards of defending them.

I know "theoretically" Dak did the right thing throwing into the blitz, and Gallup didn't do much to win that route.

But that is still the wrong decision to throw it to the only guy on the line getting pressed. And the way the 49ers lined up on that play, its seems like they were aware of the "throw into the blitz" rule and made sure to not give Gallup any space at all.

I'm not saying that play couldn't have worked with the way Dak threw it, but you better have a TO, Irvin, Keyshawn or Dez in that spot. And right now, the Cowboys don't have any of those big, strong or tough WRs for that play.

So ya, that was a terrible read by Dak based off the defensive look / personnel on the field vs what was "by the book".

And I agree. Maybe it is time for more Tolbert. But Tolbert isn't saving that play either.

This is such nonsense. It's press-man alignment on the 3WR side, they don't show that blitz. There's nothing to indicate that anybody would be open on that side of the field (and they weren't anyway).

It is a 6-man pressure, and a one-read throw to a hot route. Anyone who says otherwise is making things up to fit their Dak narrative. This INT is 100% on the WR for not winning the route.

Because this is fake and there is no progressions on the play. Why do you keep saying you know he did the right thing when you're saying he should do something else.

The football literacy of this board is unreal.
