Dallas has the toughest schedule left in the NFL.

Cowboys toughest schedule left

“Starting off in Week 5 against San Francisco, the Cowboys defense will be facing off against the toughest remaining schedule in the NFL.

The 49ers are the second-ranked offense in the NFL, with the Chargers coming in just two spots behind in fourth. Following those two matchups, Dallas takes on the eighth ranked Rams and the 10th ranked Eagles, giving them a four-game stretch against top-10 offenses (all EPA numbers per rbsdm.com).

After battling the seventh-ranked Seahawks in their post-Thanksgiving affair, the Cowboys defense faces the Eagles once again, followed by the No. 3 ranked Bills and No. 1 ranked Dolphins. That’s yet another four-game stretch against top-10 offense”

Not exactly. The D faces the toughest remaining schedule of Os.

Our O actually goes up against a slightly below average group of opposing Ds.

It's not clear that our overall schedule is tougher than, say, the Eagles. They'll face the second toughest group of Os and a significantly tougher group of Ds.

the good news is there will be multiple epic games in the coming months, the bad news is we can easily miss the playoffs, especially if we're dropping games to third tier teams like Arizona and the Eagle's opponents keep punking out at crunch time (thanks Deadskins)

This is the problem with the NFL's parity schedule. The idea that the best teams from last year play the best teams from this year has major flaws because teams can change so much in 1 year. Even teams that were injured last year and come back healthy this year can make a big difference.

The schedule should be fixed. Every team in a division should play the same teams. They would have to make some adjustments to the schedule to accomplish that but it is the most fair way to see who is the best team in each division.

Pretty small sample size for this data. Also, with injuries, all of this is incredibly volatile. Take a starting QB out of most of the offenses and it's a massive difference. Often times, something like a left tackle can produce a bing swing for a week or two. There's also some bias with the small number of games as a few contests against bad defenses can make an offense look great (does anyone thing the Bears have a 40 PPG type offense or maybe they just played a Washington D that has less than zero at corner?).

I like having a tough schedule. I embrace it. And there are no cupcakes or monsters on the schedule anyway. Secondly, if they are as good as we think they are, wouldn’t we feel good about beating some of the best teams?

If you want to be the best, beat the best.
