And in a few weeks we could be in the middle of the pack or just above it.

Want to be the best, beat the best.
Do you want to be the best or make it to the Super Bowl?

The best way to make the playoffs and get a top seed is to play the worst. Just ask Tom Brady, who did exactly that for years and years in the AFCE.

You still need to beat the next team on your schedule no matter what.
And if you beat good teams, it toughens you up for the playoffs, rather weak teams or strong teams.

And if you are a strong team, then every team should be a weaker team that you play.

It's a lot easier to beat the next team on your schedule when they're bad than when they're good.

And if you lose to good teams, your ability to make the playoffs and your road through the playoffs become more precarious.

Those Patriots sure didn't need to beat good teams to "toughen them up." They rolled into the playoffs every year on soft schedules and did just fine. Playing a hard schedule is more likely to beat you up than toughen you up.

You are not wrong. But still need to beat the next team on your schedule.

Last year Eagles had probably the easiest path ever to the SB in the history of the NFL. Then lost the game.

Sure, but they got there! That's the whole point.

This is why tough games do not bother me, regardless of the results.

Good teams find a way to win tough games, especially those that matter such as playoff games.

However, in this case, no matter if they win or lose Sunday, it will only be one game and it will not define their or the 49ers' season.

As the Cowboys, and unfortunately Cowboys fans, have learned, beyond making the playoffs it does not matter what your regular season record is or what playoff seeding you have.

While getting a higher seeding is nice, good teams can win games on the road so the only important part of the regular season is winning enough games to get into the playoffs.

While a win may be good for a confidence boost for the team and an ego boost for the fans, the reality is that the 49ers game is just another game.

Winning the game would improve the Cowboys playoff chances, while a loss would just reduce the number of losses they could have the rest of the season and still make the playoffs.
And if the Cowboys do win, the narrative will be, “They still can’t do it in the playoffs”. Mark my words.

That’s pretty much BS. Arizona doesn’t have near the talent Dallas has and look what happened. It’s all about effort. The team that plays with more fire usually wins no matter the talent.

With the brutal remaining schedule the Cowboys have the Arizona game could very well come back to haunt them. That should’ve been an easy win. The playoffs are not a guarantee, especially if they lose on Sunday night. It would be our second conference loss.

Honestly, you can put the chargers down as a W right now. Because they're defense along with their head coach are horrid. If we don't put a 40 spot on them, I'll be shocked.
You can’t put any game down as a win for the Cowboys especially after what happened against Arizona. Some of you just never learn. Lol Justin Herbert is one of the best QBs in the league he could light us up. That’s going to be a tough game, especially on the road. The Chargers only lost by two points to Miami. Everyone of their games have been close.

You don't actually believe that, I hope. Of course the team with more talent (and better coaching and game-planning and health) usually wins...just not always.

You all do realize that to miss the playoffs that Dallas would have to win fewer than 9 games in the new 7 team format.

That would mean they would have to go 5-8 over the last 13 games.

Barring a monumental rash of serious injury, that simply is not going to happen.

At least if we get there, there's no question on whether we belong there.

I’d much rather a tough schedule as opposed to a cup cake schedule when it’s time to roll into the playoffs. A team that’s always ready stays ready.

He didn't stutter and your ears don't overlap. It's sport and proven play by play, game by game, and season by season.
