Junior in college. I can't believe that was our last title. Take me back in a time machine to that game and even afterwards during the offseason and tell me this will be the last time the Cowboys will not only win the Super Bowl but play in it and have 2 more playoff wins in the next 20 years, I would have told that person they are absolutely crazy.

I would have said the same thing. However I recall thinking that if there were another couple of minutes in that game, we would have lost. I think we had lost all momentum and the steel was looking strong at the very end. Also knew afterwards this team was in for a fall since they had gone "Hollywood" during the preparations for this Super Bowl and no rudder on the ship every since but I never thought it would go to this extent.

Very good choice of words.

You cannot imagine, .. I said something to my buddy that I was watching with like, .. "it's happening again".

When we picked O'Donnell I didn't cheer, I was just so relieved.

The first half was great. Halftime sucked. The 2nd half was spent in OH CRAP mode because I felt no lead was safe. I knew we were the better team but we got outcoached. Sadly, that pattern continues to this day.

It felt like the clock struck midnight at halftime. I was like what the....?

When Larry picked O'Donnell I jumped to the ceiling each time. I can't play it cool. Lol

If you say out coached theni believe you but to me it seemed we got out hustled in second half. They wanted it more. What a sheety feeling!

I know what you mean. Looking back on it probably a couple of years later when we started losing earlier in the playoffs I could see free agency was hurting our depth, the star players were getting older and hurt a lot more, and the coaching staff was not very good or at least not as good as the previous regime. I still held on hope that Jerry would realize this and start the rebuild process by bringing in someone like Jimmy because at that time I thought Jerry wouldn't stand for this nonsense. Of course now we all know that is furthest from the truth but back then I probably along with some others believed Jerry would do the right things and not let us fall into mediocrity.

Disagree. They didnt want it more. We wanted it more and thats why we won the game. We had a veteran Super Bowl team that knew what it took to win that game, otherwise we prob let it slip away.

I was at the game and there was no lack of effort. Like others here have said it was more a relief to win than anything else. Once it was over I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Pissburg fans in misery. The joy and pleasure I felt from watching their misery and knowing we broke their hearts was better than any drug or drink!

Cowboys finally getting the W in the Superbowl of the Killer Bees ... Super sweet.
The fact that 18 years have passed since ... Bitter pill.

Happy birthday to the only sports team that gets my head, my heart and at times my body.

You can disagree. Without Brown just happening to be where ball was thrown. We lose.
The effort was there but stealers were out playing us.

Didn't we score 2 short field TD's? From Neil's ints?

I dont remember how long we had to go to score. Certainly not 80 yd drives.

Hard to believe it's been 18 years since the Cowboys last championship. This is the longest championship drought in franchise history which is pretty sad when you consider it only took 12 seasons for the Cowboys to go from a winless expansion team in 1960 to a SB championship in 1971. Hopefully we don't see a thread 6 years from now marking the 10th anniversary of the Cowboys last playoff team.

To be fair, it is a much different league today.

It's a much different league for the better today. Expansion teams have a chance to be competitive in their inaugural season with the talent the league starts them off with and with free agency. They start off with a ton of cap space, a very high draft pick and they get to select from a group of pretty decent players that each team has to make available. Back in 1960 the Cowboys got stuck with the worst players imaginable and they didn't even have a draft pick their first year.

Landry had the Cowboys competing for championships only 7 years after starting at rock bottom. The 1960 Cowboys are ranked as one of the top 10 worst teams in league history. The 2013 Cowboys set franchise and NFL futility records defensively this past season that's how sad the current state of the franchise is.

If you remember, in the playoffs and AFC Championship game that season Neal O'Donnell hit on some long bombs, scoring quickly.

The Cowboys decided that their strategy would be to keep everything in front of them, making NO work for everything and not give him anything easy over the top.
Our thinking was that he would get impatient and eventually force it down the field.
And when things got tight, .. he did just that.

People point to those INT's and say the Cowboys got lucky, but it was just good coaching that eventually paid off.
We must have had him somewhat confused with our looks and coverages, based on where he threw those balls. He was expecting something else.

Living in 'schteelars' country, .. I needed that win in a very bad way !!

HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS!

I bet on Cowboys to cover the spread and win.

They didn't cover. I lost $500. Didn't matter because I thought we were going to lose game. When Larry Brown stepped in 2x and won the game. I was saying the $500 can be replaced. Winning and beating stealers could not.

Wow. I had the exact same bet and had the exact same feelings. It was tough to hand over the cash, though. I'm not gonna lie.

Yeah.... BUT... that was the "price" for that Super Bowl win(for me).

I would do it again and again :)

I have told this story on this board before, but real quick.

My buddy who is a Cowboys fan, bet all of our steeler fan friends, (when we had 2 Super Bowls and they had 4), .. he bet them that we would get to 5 before they did. They all jumped all over that.

Then along came Jimmy Johnson, and Super Bowl XXX.

It was awesome for me that Dallas won, .. but it was fun to know that he won that bet against all of them.

That Super Bowl was more a sense of relief than anything else. I was really dissapointed on how we came out for pre-gameintroductions, everyone WALKED out of the tunnel instead of sprinting out, I think the team jumped the shark right there, like someone posted before, we went "hollywood". But it was a victory, the last one and I had thought we would have at least two more. Who would have thought that was the beginning of this drought were in.
